Low Microphone Volume on Gen III

Yes, it works for the Gen III Nav system also.

 

Why does mine suck still? I have an iphone 3g... and no one can hear me unless I TALK REALLY LOUD... is it still happening to anyone else after this fix?

 

Not sure if this will help, but make sure your volume on the iphone is turned up. You'll need to make a call, through the car's BT, and then push the volume + button on your iphone. The first time I made a call, I had to set the PRIUS volume very high, but then figured out that my Iphone's BT volume was really low.

I was just about to post the same video. Used it to increase the BT mic volume and it worked very well.

Wish HTMLSpinnr would post more videos!

I have done that and it really doesn't seem to affect the mic volume. I still get complaints from others saying that I'm hard to hear. I started a thread asking people to check their input meter in the factory menu (this thread http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...oting/72832-mic-voice-recognition-button.html ). I am wondering if the people without a problem are seeing more sensativity when looking at the mic meter. As for me when I yell very loud I barely get two to three bars. I absolutely can't make the meter get into the red bars.

Interesting. Now that I can get to this menu, what other changes are possible?

Has anyone mapped out the entire menu and determined what each setting actually does?

Tripped through it but didn't want to change anything other than the BT setting. Let us know if you find anything else that's useful.

 

I have been in that menu and with my meter you have to speak quite loud for it to register. My issue is people are muffled like someone has there hand over their mouth . It is not consistent so it hard to tell if it 's ok or not .
My gain has been set to 5 back to 0 then to -1 nothing seems to make a difference.
I haven't tryed adjusting my phone though I will today hope thats all there is to it.

 

Same exact problem. No matter what I have the gain set to it sounds exactly the same to the other person (muffled). Let me know if you come up with anything useful on the phone end. I will try connecting my wife's phone tonight to see if it's the iPhone or not. BTW I am using an iPhone 3G (not GS).

What does your meter read now that things are sounding good. When you talk normal into the mic do you see the sound meter move at all?

 

I did a quick test just now. I set the gain to -5 then to 0 then to +5. Each time I called my home answering machine and left a message. Each message sounds EXACTLY the same. There is no difference in volume from -5 to +5 for me. If you guys are really curious I can record three messages to my Google Voice account with all three setting and you can tell me if you hear a difference.

 

I am not having a problem with people hearing me on my bluetooth hands free, people say they cannot tell I am using hands free. I checked my volume tonight on the Service Menu. There are seven boxes, the first five have green lines on the outside edges and the last two have red lines.

When I talked in a normal tone of voice, there was no indication. When I raised my voice slightly, the first box turned solid green. When I talked louder, the first three boxes turned solid green. When I talked really loud, all boxes turned solid.

I changed my gain from the original 0 to 5. My wife says that she cannot tell the difference.
