So I'm wiring up my harness for my new AVIC z110bt and getting all my ducks in a row for my install when I thought about the JBL system in my car.....

Is there a specific way I need to address this in my install? As of right now I just wired the harness to the radio as normal.....I'm at a total loss here if anyone has a clue. My harness only has wires for front L/R, and rear L/R. Doesn't the JBL have like 8 speakers? and a sub - I definitely don't want to install the new system and go from 8 speakers to 4. Did any one of you guys that did nav installs have JBL in your cars??

Also on a side note - the factory harness has a black ground coming off of it and the new nav harness has a black ground coming off of it. Can I just solder those together like the rest of the wires on the harness? Or do I need to attach one to the chassis??

    Thanks in advance,

    Kev

I see a lot of views and no replies but I found this part, after LOTS of searching Toyota forums. The PAC TATO. Apparently it's a complete harness replacement, utilizing the factory JBL amp and therefore keeping the 8 speaker setup of the Prius V. I'm going to try to find one local tomorrow. With any luck I'll find one, and have my install complete by tomorrow evening. Pics coming soon!

Lucky me!! Hahaha I love having a 2010 way before 2010 actually arrives...but it has it's downsides as well. Hopefully everything will work out; I really want to retain the JBL system since I already paid for it and all....

Yikes... I would concentrate on getting the pinnout (wiring diagram) - this can be found at the Toyota Website - but is hard to get at, and from memory, you can't just cut and paste - you need to do screen shots to keep it...

On the II, the front speakers are "shared", so it ends up being plug and play. I'd guess the 8 speaker system is shared across many platforms (Camry et al), so there may be some kind of wiring adapter specific to you. Unfortunately, you are likely rewiring the whole thing.

Looks like you are removing the JBL amp (which is a good idea) - here's some more clues... http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...ered-subwoofer-install-pics-instructions.html - PM Moner - looks like he has the info. Also do some searches - there are a few who have totally dumped everything Toyota for aftermarket...

Prius JBL Audio system response, specs, and photos shows how to bypass the JBL on an '04 (probably similar)

So rrolff - I am testing the fit of the unit and am having some issues with the factory. brackets. The AVIC sits far too high and needs to come down a good bit to fit center in the UK toyo surround. Did you run into this prob and what did you do to fix it?

    Bonsoir
I had the same problem with the braket,
I solved it this way with a dremel tool : go there to see a picture.
and there to see the result.

Regarding the SW control, it is toy's standard as mentionned by rrolf.

My French is not great, 1. Grind the round yellow circles down
    2. - something about grinding right-angle red (???) for fix???

Frenchie - can you translate a bit more - I don't see the red... Also - is that metra you have for the sides of your radio - or is it still custom (it looks good).

Thanks for the help with the brackets Frenchie, I used a dremel and cut the holes a little longer. Doesn't look real pretty so I made sure everything was good and smooth but it seems to have done the trick very well.

Just wiring up the four speaker wires from the harness I originally had basically totally bypassed the JBL system and all I had was front tweeters and rear door speakers. The sound was crap. With the Metra harness I still have control of all 8 speakers in the system, and utilize the JBL amp. The sound seems better with the avic now than it did with the stock setup.

I'm not done unfortunately, and I've got a tone of work to do. Tomorrow I've got to wire the Sirius, mount the Sirius ant., wire and mount the backup camera, wire and program the SWI-PS, mount the GPS ant. AND mount the microphone.

Looks like I'll be wrapping up next week...I have to work ALL weekend. :-(

Originally wanted to install the OEM nav, now I think I'm going your route as well. A few questions:

    - Where did you get the harness? I looked around but couldn't find one for JBL equipped cars.
    - For the steering wheel controls, which controls actually worked (eg: did the bluetooth answer and talk switches work as well?)?
    - How did you connect the parking brake wire? I know a lot aftermarket HU's require it.
    - Did you connect the speed pulse wire? Does it really make the nav more accurate?

Anyways, look forward to your final verdict and some pictures :)

Guess OEM has a few meanings. For those wanting a "stock" Toyota nav, there are many available - even on Ebay (search E7007 or E7009). Seems you can find them for $500ish used. These aren't specific to the Prius, but would work if you buy the 200mm x 100MM surround from the UK (mentioned in many posts) - which costs like $130...

kamick81, did you have any problems programming the SWI-PS? I have version 1.6.8 which supports voice commands. Programming went smoothly, but when I press the voice command button, it decreases the volume instead of bringing up the voice control screen.

I wonder if this is a bug in the Pioneer software, or I didn't program the SWI-PS properly?

Don't know to tell you. I have a JVC and it does the same thing In fact I never programmed my SWC to support the Talk mute or hang up options on the JVC HU. Found this out by mistake when i pushed the voice button on the JVC HU and the vol went up. Go figure.

That proves that the problem is from the SWI-PS. I wonder if other users have the same issue.

There is a 150ohm resistor embedded inside the harness that came with the PAC TATO. I connected that harness to the SWI-PS instead of using the harness that came with it (the harness from the PAC TATO already has the power leads wired in). The instructions for 2009 Prius recommends a 560ohm resistor. I suspect that this is causing the problem.

Everything else works, volume, track up/down, source, etc.

I have the same wiring harness with the resistor connected. I thought it was for temp control. I just dont think the SWC software regardless of the version can handel the Voice button on the Prios or any bluetooth options with-out the OEM (Prius) HU. Let me know If you get it to work.
