Would have thought traction control would kick in and slow it down. But in true Toyota style the Prius just kept going!!

I wonder how he managed to incur the damage previous to abandoning the car. I do love those addicts, they are always a handful in the hospital.

Is the transport vehicle for this guy typical?? Looks like one we would use for animal control pick-up......

Did anyone else assume that this thread was about Pat Sparks?

Not typical here, it looks more like it is designed for carrying equipment rather than people.

Tom, it was about the OTHER Aussie.

    Nah. Couldn't be him.

The kid in the police van is too fit, too young, even handsome. :D

And the car doesn't have a sharkfin. ;)

It was the main reason why I even popped over to this thread, just to find out the answer to that very question.

I had thought about it on an "intellectual level", especially after seeing the photo showing a silver colored Prius like Pat's.

I was kinda hoping Pat might be able to supply more details about this accident. To me it looks like a high velocity impact with a boulder ripped the driver-side wheel out and back and must have thrown the car up enough that the rear wheel came down and wiped out the tire too. The only way he'd have still had any traction power is the transaxle drive shaft must be 'jammed'. It would be interesting to find out how the initial damage was done.

I like the comment about the paddy wagon looking like what we use for 'animal control' ... probably the right container regardless. Looks like it would be easy to 'hose down' after picking up someone intoxicated.

He was driven crazy by the magnetic fields from the MGs.

Then he hit an object when his brakes failed after going over a bump.

Next the car accelerated on its' own all the way to town.

The floormats must have jammed the pedal "off" so he came to a stop.

Still confused he asked for drugs instead of a beer.

    ;)

Something tells me that Prius's days as a hire - or rental - car are probably over
