Reading the title of this thread and the direction it's taking in the last few posts got me thinking. Not always a good thing, especially when I've got too much time on my hands. :D

You young guys with heated seats that are thinking about starting a family might want to take a look at

WikiAnswers - How is sperm production related to temperature

Happy to be of service. :p

So, you're saying the Prius *could* be used as some kind of birth control device? Seems to contradict the namesake of the vehicle entirely...

Since we are having some cold weather (at least what passes for cold in Southern California) I decided to try the heated seats yesterday. Nothing happened at first, so a few minutes later I was surprised by becoming warmer than I had expected. My initial thought had been right, it will have to be very cold indeed before I find that the hot seat option could be desirable. I'll be taking the fuses for the heated seats out, putting them in an envelope with instructions on where to replace them, and storing it in the glove compartment in case the switches get accidentally depressed; or the unlikely event that I might be driving in sub-freezing temperatures.

AHAA! So that's why it took forever for them to defrost. Thanks! My bad.

save some time and leave them in. its a small probability that they will get accidentally pressed. Mine are under the center console and kind of awkward to press. Have had the car since July and never accidentally pressed them.

I HAD heated seats on my 2003 Mercedes E320. Three different intensity levels. The option package above mine even came with AIR CONDITIONED SEATS! Leather seats with little holes in them. It was nice, but, time for a change. I like the Prius, got it yesterday. Me, and the cats may drive cross-country to SoCal, and the hatchback, and gas milage are better in this car. May look at a Nissna Leaf next fall. Drove an Altima Hybrid up the coastal highway in Ca, liked it, got me looking at hybrids, and total electircs.
