So, I've been staying away from Prius Chat for a while. I couldn't deal with reading posts and looking at pics while waiting for my Prius to come in! Another big reason I've been neglecting PC is because I (like all of NOLA and Louisiana) have been obsessed with our New Orleans Saints' magical, surreal season. Everything else in life isn't quite as important as what our boys in Black & Gold have been accomplishing!

    Now...
At around 9:30 this morning, I got a call from Ray Brandt Toyota in the New Orleans Metro area. (Which FREAKED me out! I'll explain why in just a few sentences.) It was my salesman calling to tell me that my Prius IV w/ Solar Roof will be arriving around the 23rd!
Merry Friggin Christmas to me, ay?!? :p

Now, here's the strange part about this:
I placed the order on Aug 7th. Today is Dec 7th. Interesting timing, wouldn't you say? Well, that's nothing...check this out...

Just this past weekend, I was thinking about modifying my order and taking out the Solar Roof. (The roof is the whole reason it took this long to get the car. The gulf states didn't have any IV's w/ solar roof.)
I was tired of waiting. I wanted my Prius. So, last night I decided that I would give the dealership a call in the morning to talk about modifying the order to speed things up. As I'm crawling out of bed, I planned to brew some coffee, make a quick breakfast, then give the dealership a call after. Well, I didn't even make it out of my bedroom when my phone rang! As soon as I saw "RBToyota" on my caller id, my entire body got a sudden surge of adrenaline and I had an ear to ear smile! I didn't even need my usual coffee to get me going at this point! lol!

I explained this odd little incident to my salesman and he had a good laugh. Crazy results can occur when patience and good luck team up, ay?

So, anyways...I plan on giving a full review with pics and vids once I get the car and I'm able to test everything out. I doubt I'll have much to review about the solar roof functions beings it's been in the 30's and 40's down here. Looks like Santa is gonna pass at my house a few days early. Cheers!

    WHO DAT?!? :cheer2:

Happy for you, Peppito. I had been surfing internet frequently, getting myself warm up, before the arrival of my Prius for a very long time. I got it two weeks ago.

    Peppito,

Good luck, we talked a while back. I just got mine IV with SR last week. The car arrived at the dealer exactly 6 months to the day from my order date of June 2nd.

OK well I got "the call" via email in late November stating "your black prius V is due to arrive 12/10-12/15." Waiting is like passing a kidney stone...breathe, breathe ;-)

I feel for the poor guy whos pregnant wife says "honey, it's time" and his salesman calls and says "Your new Prius 2010 IV with SR is prepped and ready for pickup". Oh my gosh, what to do. Anyway, ordered mine 6-2 and another one fell in my lap on 7-24 so I have been VERY glad I got one as many others have waited for months.:D

Maybe Toyota is changing its censored deliveries in gulf states. I received my IV with solar roof last week Thursday, December 3, in Houston Texas. I ordered it September 10. 3 weeks of the wait was time it took from the ship's unloading to delivery at the dealer: it got stuck at the distribution center during Thanksgiving holidays. But "Peppito", the wait was worth it, I am really enjoying my red beauty!

I wish I had the inside access to really track the whole process of delivering a car. Did your red beauty have the USB/iPod adapter already installed?

yes, the USB/iPod adapter were already installed. I am going to get these as well as the BT tested this weekend when visiting the kids who know these things much better than me.
And I did get a lot of the tracking information, like the name of the ship etc, from my dealer. Once you have that you can find out where and when your car hits the US shore and your dealer can track it from there.

We were lucky with our Prius purchase. We decided in early August to trade my '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the cash for clunkers program. We originally wanted a Camry hybrid, drove a used one at one dealer but his next allocation wasn't expected for a month. Called another dealer the next morning, salesman said there wasn't a single Camry hybrid on the ground anywhere on the east coast. And by the time he could get one the C4C program would be over and that you had to actually take delivery in the C4C program, cars on order didn't count. Then he said he might have one Prius left if it hadn't been sold the night before. I told him to check and call me back. As luck would have it, the car was still there and it was a IV with leather and nav in barcelona red (talk about lucky)! I put a deposit on it and phoned the wife who met me there that afternoon. She drove it a liked it so we closed the deal, left the Jeep, and drove home in the shiny new red Prius. Best of all, we got $4500 in C4C for a car with an actual trade value of about $1700. SCHWEEET!

That is some crazy good luck right there. I definitely won't be getting anywhere near that much for my trade-in. I'm gonna be trading in my 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. It's about 6 yrs old and still in fair condition. Lots of traveling was done in that vehicle. (I plan on taking the Prius on tons of road trips.) Either way, my new Prius is gonna be...as you say..."SCHWEEET!" :)

    Who Dat?! Congratulations!

    I never got a call.

I still can't get over how almost everyone in PriusChat orders their Prius. I shopped around a few dealers over two weeks, then walked into one dealer with 20+ to choose from, and I picked out my Prius IV w/ Solar Roof & Nav with only 2mi on it.

Is Prius that popular across the US, or do our dealers in Southern California just have large inventories?

When did you buy? Inventories are returning back to more normal levels after they were decimated by the C4C program. That must be a very high volume dealership for all of Toyota's models to be allocated so many.

Most people ordered theirs when there were no inventories. It was plain dumb luck that we got the last one at a local dealer in early August.

I bought my "incredible egg" exactly 30 days ago. I guess C4C could've wiped out inventory across the US during the summer, but I really wasn't shopping then.

So now that we all have our Priuses, let's get out and drive. See what you can fill up the hatch with - Christmas presents, a Christmas tree, or some Prius accessories. Go stimulate the economy!

C4C definitely had a lot to do with it. Gulf States Toyota can also be a bit "a$$-backwards" and normally tails behind the rest of the country in terms of inventory, keeping up to speed, etc. There aren't many IV's being sold in La. (from I've been reading and seeing on the roads, anyway.) The solar roof package was the main reason it took this long to get mine. Not too many solar roofs being sold here either. I know most of the local dealerships in this area had a number of II's and a few III's here and there. That was about it.

I would imagine Cali has a bigger market for the Prius than the deep south. I noticed when the GenIII started circulating around the country back in the early summer, it took a while for the higher models and packages to become available in the south. Never understood why it takes the south/gulf states a little longer to get on track. I wonder if it's simply a supply-and-demand issue??

Prius's are very popular on the east and west coasts, not as much in the middle of the country. Here in the DC area you can not drive a mile without seeing at least one, usually more.

There's huge demand on the coasts (possible exception of the Gulf coast). Toyota will allocate cars based on dealer volume, not just for the Prius, but for the entire line. For example, if you have a dealer who sells tons of Prius's but not so many of the other models, their Prius allocation might be less than what they would like.
