They will keep whittling down the stations they allow you to listen to until there is just one that plays something you dislike extremely. You will keep listening to it, clinging to that last free bit of satellite radio, hoping that one day you will get the other stations back, thinking you are showing them by getting this one horrid station for free. Eventually you will be driven mad having listened to something you loathe so much. You will obsess about it constantly throughout the day. You'll let yourself go physically and your family and friends will no longer recognize you. You will start running down the streets naked in the middle of the night screaming for more satellite radio. Your life will be ruined all because you wouldn't pony up the extra money to just subscribe to satellite radio.

Is it really worth all that?

What is supposed to happen d u r i n g the free trial period.

I picked up the car Tueday. Had it just 4 days. I can only pick up 60 or so stations. 20 per XM 1, XM 2 and XM 3. Is this all there is to XM. I am not impressed. I thought there were over a hundred stations?

What will happen if I bought full XM?

I had all of the XM stations on mine from day 1. No limitations that I was aware of.

Soo.... mine's still going ... not that I'm complaining. It's been 2 weeks since it was supposed to have expired.

My trial period ran out Thanksgiving weekend (last weekend in November, for you non-U.S. folks). I got a couple of letters saying it would cost me "only" $125 a year or so to re-up.

Yesterday, I got a postcard offering $77 for a year.

I'm not going to do it--it's just more radio--but it is interesting to see how the price drops the longer I don't renew.

Incidentally, as far as I know, I had full XM service during the trial. I'm a big baseball fan, and I had all the MLB stations right straight through the playoffs and World Series, so my free trial was conveniently timed for me.

You should have more than that, maybe your viewing through the category listing...

Got the The XM Website, and pull up a channel listing and see if you can get most of them...

You should be...And my only comment, is that I LOVE it far better than FM...and find the cost reasonable, without having to use other electronics, cords, etc... plus it's clear as a bell here in my area.. or anyplace I have driven thus far..

    Good Luck!

    Well...very interesting.

I just got the third promotional call in two days from XM. They offered me $77 for a year or $24 for 5 months.

I told them that I don't want XM the year round, but that I'm a big baseball fan, and that if I could get 5 months worth during baseball season (June through October), I'd go for it. The woman put me on hold for a minute and then came back and told me she could do it!

I have to be alert next October, otherwise it'll kick into a three-year deal, which I certainly don't want. I'll just cancel at the end of the five months.

Because I would not give my credit card number over the phone on a call I didn't originate, they will also charge me a bogus $2 "invoice fee." But whatever. It's still the baseball channels I want for the period of time I want it, so I don't care.

They must have just added that. That is the deal I want. Howard might be gone in 12 months.

I just renewed my account minutes ago. After the polite sales rep gave me all the offers I said "I'm a member of an online Prius chat forum- and I know there's a $77/year subscription- can you tell me about that?" and he said: "Well, I'm not allowed to mention it unless you ask about it...but yes, we can do that"....

So, I got my current subscription extended for a year for $77 plus the $11 royalty fee. Oh, and $3.99/month for NavTraffic.

Only catch is after the year is up they will automatically renew you on the quarterly payment plan of $44.79/quarter UNLESS you call them and cancel your account. I figure we'll know more about other offers by then. We're a smart bunch!

Thanks. After three phone calls I too got the $77+11+ taxes rate. She made it clear that it would only be good one time and that after one year, it would revert to the quarterly renew rate.

As you say, hopefully, there will be a new promotion in a year or they'll lose me and others at any higher rate.

Well I have two questions after all this reading. I like Rhino have limited channels on my Sat. When I push the Sat button, the nav screen shows three Sat tabs labeled Sat 1, Sat 2, and Sat 3. Each Sat tab has about ten stations. Am I doing something wrong, or is my XM a limited version.
Second, the $77.00 deal everyone is writing about, which package is that for? The Everything plus, the Everything or the Mostly music?

    Scott,

Those "ten" buttons are all programmable. Use your TUNE knob/dial or the "scan" button to tune up/down to a channel you want to listen to. Then, once you find it simply hold down one of the image buttons to set that station on that button. You have all stations, you just have presets for each "SAT"...It's just like FM1 and FM2 on most radios.

I was told by my sales rep that the $77/year would be the exact same as what I had during the trial. Of course, Nav is $3.99/month atop that.

    Cheers,

    Robert
