A silly question but does the Toyota hood ornament illuminate with a blue glow when the lights are on?
I thought I saw it in a photo, but wasn't sure if it was just done for "effect".

Thanks for answering this silly question. I will sleep better tonight.

The blue "glow" is not lit up. It is blue paint.

I thought I read that people have removed the front emblem and replaced the blue backing with a backing of a different color - to better "match" their car, like red.

If so, one might be able to use a translucent plastic (whatever color desired) for the backing and then add some small LEDs behind it to achieve an "illuminated" effect?

I have seen different color emblems available at Sigma Automotive, like red. I don't know about adding LEDs, however. The emblem is probably not thick enough.

The Prius V with AT Hood Emblem is somewhat different than the
II-IV's, in that it is only two dimensional.

This is due to the Radar sending unit contained behind it.

And, like the II-IV's, it does NOT illuminate either.

I just finally pulled out the telescoping steering wheel. Much better since I like to sit a bit reclined. Of course, I'm only 5'6". ;)

Hmmm, maybe an aftermarket phosphorescent badge could be made... just kidding!

I saw a post a few years back by someone who pulled off the Toyota badge, ran EL wires around the back, and fastened it back down so the wire could glow out around the logo. Actually looked pretty spiffy.

In Japan, it is illegal to install an extra illumination in front.
    How about your country?

Back when I was a kid, I would have thought a glowing logo was stupid and would have hated it.
Now I think it would be funny and would want it.
But my wife would (accurately) consider it completely taste free and nix it.
    Oh well

You can't add red or blue, those colors are reserved for emergency vehicles. You can add white, but not flashing white, that is also reserved for emergency vehicles. The local rule of thumb is that lights mounted higher than the hood must be covered while on public roadways, (they are considered off-road lights) that rule is usually not enforced. Some people add yellow for foglights, that's fine. The new add-on lights should be mounted symmetrically in pairs and should not blind oncoming drivers. The alignment is also loosely enforced.

While you are on private property you can light it how you like.
