How to lower the Prius?

    Inspired by Chong's black low rider Prius, I'm interested in lowering the Prius. I searched online and in these forums and found nothing on how to do it.

    1. What's involved in converting it to a low rider? New parts?
    2. Does it void the warranty?
    3. About how much does it cost in parts and labor for someone to do entirely (if someone like myself is completely inept when it comes to car mods, especially the prius, and would rather have someone else do it)?

    Most modifications will likely void your warranty.
    It'll probably run you about $2 grand (if you want a good replacement suspension). You can also just drop some springs on (like the B&Gs) for a few hundred bucks, but the total suspension performance likely won't be as good.
    Call a tuning shop.

    you could lower it by using lowering springs such as tanabe, eibach, b&g, rsr....etc.... or go with coilovers such as hks, tein, tanabe, rsr..etc - some of this items are being sold by sigma......

    I dont think they have coilovers... or do they?

    But they do have springs for it... Tanabe USA Inc. - DF210 Dress-Up Form Springs ... and if you're worried about warranty, simple have the springs take out and put the stock back in. Not like the dealer always pays a visit and checks the car out

    there are several coilovers available for the prius... (tanabe, rsr, hks, gab....mostly sold in japan)

    here's a pic of the set i'm using (tanabe)....

    Coilovers are kind of an expensive and non practical approach to lowering a prius. The simplest approach would be springs, then, if need be, shocks.

    That is one very expensive 1 centemetre!!!

    Would it be cheaper to put a sheet of roofing lead under the carpets?

    The reality of the prius is that under most scenarios, the average lowered prius will not see the benefits of such extreme performance products...perhaps a lower priced set of good springs might be a better route if you're mainly after looks....don't cheap out if you're gonna go the coilover route tho

    Lower it? It's too low already. I scraped the bottom going into a driveway a few days ago.

    OP, you might want to consider Ground Control coilovers. Good reviews, adjustable height, and not bad price-wise
