3000K and 5000K Installed!!

    I was about to upgrade my OEM HID to 55W but found a really good 5000k D4R deal on ebay, so I will save the 55W project for 2010.
    Since my bumper needed to be removed anyways for replacing the HID bulbs why not adding some spice to the fog! Ordered 9006 3000K 35W along with the D4R bulbs. $55.00 shipped!

    ONE THING I DID NOTICE after changing the OEM HID bulbs to aftermarket ones. My Clean cut off line wa gone!!!!! looks like it was out of focus... Anyone one know why? I tried to aim it but did help.

    FYI.
    I put on the second pair of aftermarket bulbs this afternoon, looked a little better, but the cutoff line was still fuzzy.

    I am sure it is caused by the bulb. The cheap ones are shorter and causes the housing to deflect the light out of focus and glare.

    Is yours bi-xenon?

    Yes, mine is Bi-Xenon.
    So if I use Toyota OEM bulb, I should get the clean cut back?

    Yea, you should. Let us know how it goes.

    I have a bi-xenon now and it works better than the cheap HID low beam. If the OEM bulb gives a clear cut-off line and works with non-OEM ballast, I may be interested to try it (and give up the high beam).

    Are you using the OEM ballast?

    I actually got two pair of the aftermarket Bulb from two different sellers. I will try to swap the other pair and see how it turns out.

    I am using the OEM ballasts, and they are not very stable, giving me different color output sometimes.

    I have a aftermarkt 55W on my other car and it works great. So if going for a aftermarket kits, I will choose the 55w.

    Let us know how it goes. I am wondering if more heat will be generated from the 55w HID bulb and how the OEM housing will handle it.

    I will try to post some picture when I'm done. I compared the OEM bulb and the after market bulb, they were a little different in size.

    55W's heat shouldn't be a problem to our OEM HID housing consider its size.

    Nice! I'm planning on buying a 3000k hid kit+yellow lamin x for my sister's foglights! Came out nice!

    Looks great! I expected the 3000K to be a bit more yellow (maybe it's the angle of the shot?)

    It is bright yellow, so it may not seem that yellow in the picture, but seeing it in person is a different story.

    quick question. do you have to remove the bumper to change the foglights? or can you just turn the wheel and open up the wheel well and change it from there? were there any obstructions that are behind the fogs? thanks in advance T_T

    Removing the bumper is the way to go. You can find a good spot for the ballast behind the bumper, and this is very important. Once you remove the bumper, the rest is very easy, just tighten the ballast in place and wire up! Took me an hour in total including picture time :) i'm sure with the bumper on you will find it more difficult.

    Did you add the fog light or just upgraded the existing bulb to HID?

    great upgrade.......

    also did a 5000k upgrade on mine (I used philips D4R from Japan) and also upgraded my fogs to 55W 3000k DDM HID kit...

    You've made the wise choise on the philips bulbs. They are much better in quality.
    But 55W fog is crazy! I also got the DDM kit. They are great!
