I used to do this when I was a kid in Oklahoma. Frogs do seem to like being "petted." Amazing little creatures! Toads don't seem to react like this, but if you flip them over and rub thier tummy they fall asleep (or so it looks - it might be a "playing dead" reaction).

Very cute. I like doing the belly rub thing with toads. They are such cute little buggers.

How can you NOT like frogs. If there were no frogs left, then we would not be alive. I know as long as there are frogs around then we are still safe. Please look after the frogs.
Toads on the other hand are disgusting. Keep the toads out of South Australia.

Are they all Frogs? They are Beautiful. I havn't seen frogs with so many different colours and patterns.
We do not need to pat them, just look after the environment they live in.

Yes... American poison dart frogs (Central and South American that is)... not a nice pet... but generally not aggressive to man. And the bright colors are their warning to leave them the hell alone, and as a signal to others like them that they are in the neighborhood baby, lets party.

Yes, but they're some of the most beautiful creatures on the planet. The current problems with amphibian mutations here in the US indicates something is going on with their environment - not a good sign.

    Frogs are wonderful creatures.

Toads, in their own, native environment, are also wonderful. They eat a lot of garden pests, given the chance.

Not when they kill off any native wildlife, as is the case with the cane toad in Queensland, Australia. The Cane toad was introduced to the Cane fields in Queensland to get rid of some pest that was on the cane. It worked, but they have bred profusley and destroying other native species. They have spread into New South Wales, and the odd one has been seen in South Australia. I think you can get paid for killing cane toads in Queensland.

Bev, the cane toad is NOT in its native environment.

We have invasive, destructive species in the USA, as well.

He was just a little invasive, but definitely not destructive! :p
