Wondering now if they'll install 195-60-15 size. I spoke to my toyota dealership regarding providng my own tires for them to install and align. They need to do a 30K service on the vehicle too so I was pleased that they said to drop ship the Hankook 727 to them and they'd call me when they arrive. I didn't mention that they were 195-60-15 size because I didn't think they'd care. After getting toyota's pricing for installation and alignment I called my local Tires Plus retailer to compare pricing. Now I'm wondering if toyota dealer will install them since they are not a stock size ? Tires Plus said they have orders from their corporate hdqtrs. not to install non-stock sized tires on hybrids. He clearly said he couldn't think of any mechanical reason why this should be a problem but its policy. Also, now that I noticed one poster said that Costco has a similar policy about putting non-stock sized tires on vehicles.

Do you think I should mention this to my dealer or just let them show up there and see if there is any problems? I really would prefer them to mount them because of TPMS and have them align the car. By the way, if interested they quoted me 186.00 for mounting and alignment and disposal of my tires. Total for tires from gripston and installation and alignment from Toyota (if they'll do it) is $486.00.

Tiresplus wanted $100.00 just to install my tires--rip off!!!

This Wednesnay, my toyota dealer charged me $60.00 to balance and install the Hankooks 195-60-15's.
they wanted to align my car ... my car does not need aligment.

my mom also had it done at the dealer for $60.00, mount and balance, same Hankook tires.

the dealer will always try to get as much $$$ from you and get you to do things 'you do not need'

***why do you want to align your prius, is it wearing out your front tires, is it pulling left or right?

call other tire shops and just mount and balace your Hankooks, do not mention sizes or complicate things for yourself, just ask 'how much will you charge me to mount and balance 4 new tires i purchased on the web'.

$60.00 is good price, tires feel 100% better.

$186.00 for mounting and alignment is too high

Keep in mind that just because your car does not pull does not mean you don't need an alignment. I would recommend ALWAYS having an alignment done when installing new tires. For one, proper alignment will help your tires last longer, so it protects your investment.

I agree that $186 is too high. It should be about $60 to $70 for mounting and balancing, and another $40 to $50 for front end alignment.
