when does the 2011 Prius hit the US markets ? Especially interested in SO CA market.

I am looking to buy a 2010 USED prius ( trim 3 and above ) and was wondering when will I see a deluge of used 2010 models. Rights now there are only a few at local dealers place and on ebay..

If other years are any indication, probably Sept./Oct. 2010. The GenIII roll out was an exception to the normal, probably due to Honda's early introduction of their Insight model.

My guess is that you won't see a whole lot of 2010's until the plug-in Prius, Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt start selling nationwide in 2012, although Cali will see some of those earlier than most of us!:D It looks like gas prices will be pretty harsh this summer too, so what used 2010's are available will probably be selling for a premium. You could always ask Electric Me or Indyking, I think they would be willing to sell theirs...

I believe I recently read an article on this on autobloggreen.com saying the plug-in prius will be available state-side with dealers on Dec 2010. I am not sure about the non-plugin models.

I agree. I don't think that anyone would part with their 2010 Prius until something even more environmentally-friendly comes along. Right now, Prius is the top dog.:)

Yes. The 2010 is the car to get now. The cash for clunkers made them hard to get but now it is out is reasonable numbers.

The plug-in is not the ultimate car. Something better will always be waiting around the corner. After the plug-in comes out, you may want to wait for the second model year of plug-in to avoid first year problems. Then there is the new smaller hybrid to wait for. Then there will be the Prius station wagon to wait for.

And then I am sure every subsequent model of the plug-ins will have a longer range, faster charging batteries, quick swap batteries, ability to charge at a station in 10 minutes at 2000 volts. Two batteries - the extended range model. Rare earth magnet superconducting super-colliding hall effect induction twin ion engine 24 phase propulsion electric motor that regenerate electricity when the car in the other lane is slowing down :D.

It will get better and better for a long time.

Should be out around September 2010. That is when carryover models come out for the next year.

All-new models (the '10 Prius) often come out at different times in the year, I think usually not long after the biggest auto shows which are happening about now.

The OP is waiting to buy a used Prius because it is believed that will save money (first year drop is usually the biggest). While this is -usually- true, it has often -not- been true for Prius. You -may- be able to find lease/rentals at a reasonable price, but they will be base models (you can find 2009s in base form from this right now).

If a base model is what you want, then wait. Otherwise you may have to purchase a new one. Now there -will- be a few available from people who couldn't afford them and had to return them (or had them taken away from them). Those won't be base models.
