My thoughts are that the four doors might be:
    1) two front doors and two smallish suicide doors like the Saturn.
    2) to undeniably distinguish it from the Smart.

They also might have added some length since these pictures were originally released.

The general focus, as stated above, is on a younger consumer base and Scion greatly promotes customization and individuality of the Scion vehicles. The were some of the first "budget" cars to include things like AUX or iPod inputs. They also offer sporty upgrades like OBX or Razo shift knobs, race pedals, carbon fiber dash inserts and such which a lot of young consumers love to install as aftermarket upgrades (I used to sell that stuff).

The following commericals can help illustrate my point better than words can.

In addition to the different demographic target the method is different also. It's very very similar to buying from LLBean or Lands End. There's the catalogue, there are various colors and there are the prices in the catalogue. Call and place your order, it'll be ready in a day or a week.

Also there's no markup in the vehicles either. A typical Scion has about $800 in it and price discussion is verboten. No dealer can have any significant price advantage over another even if they cut the sales price to dead invoice. The max difference can be $800. But if a dealer does cut his price on one vehicle, then by the Scion agreement he must cut the prices on everyone of his Scions of the same model by the same amount. And Toyota audits the paperwork.

But there's no pressure either, if you'd like to buy that's fine but if not that's fine too. C'mon by again when you're in the area.

somebody should address the energy force taken up buy the human body vs. the car.

it seems like anybody in a smart car will have more internal damage than a anybody in a c class

A 1.5L engine for this size car is *way* too big. Why not use an 800cc or a 1L (at most) engine and be getting 70-80 MPG? That's really all you need, especially if you care about the environment and conserving fuel.
Why have an engine that is so powerful in such a small car that will cause it to accelerate so fast? Its only going to make the car more unsafe than it needs to be.

The era of muscle cars is over! (Good riddance).

I just received the embargoed information for Monday's press conference. And that's all I'll say.

How about that for a tease? :)

Sorry, I thought it's been on sale worldwide. Toyota iQ is available in Europe for quite some time already, looks exactly the same as this "Scion iQ", but it is a pure gasoline or diesel version, not a hybrid. I was looking on it at my dealership - it's cute, but very expensive (considering it's real value). The cheapest version costs $18000, while the "top notch" iQ is priced at $25000 in the Czech republic, which is badly overpriced.

Toyota iQ comes with either 1.0l or 1.33l gasoline engine or 1.4l diesel. I am also surprised that they are planning to put 1.5l in this Scion iQ...

NO, it's much smarter than a Smart, because under the Aston Martin styled bodywork it's all Toyota with all that entails.
