What I miss about my 2007 Prius

I have had my 2010 Prius IV w/solar for 6 days. I like the car so far, but I really loved my 2007 Prius Touring Package 6. I sold my 2007 to some friends so their daughter would have a safe, reliable car at a very cheap price to help them out. I don't need much arm twisting to buy a new toy, but I am little disappointed with the changes that were made between the Gen II and the Gen III.
Am I the only one that misses all the storage spaces?
    Here's the list:
    1) Where do you put your sunglasses? The fold down space by the mirror is missing.
    2) Why did they just leave the bottle holder in the door? I really liked the long pocket on the door. It was a perfect place to store your umbrella, paper towels, etc.
    3) I miss the fold-out cup holder in the center console. In the 2010, you have to slide back the center console cover, which then sticks out into the middle seat leg room in the back.
    4) The console was so easy to get to. Easy to open while driving. Still trying to get the hang of the latch to slide back and open the console. OH, and now my change falls into the console when I tilt back the cover to get to the stuff I now have consolidated in smaller console.
    5) I miss the "secret" drawer under the console. It was a great place to hide valuables.
    6) I miss the space under the MFD where I used to store pens.
    7) I miss the location for the cup holders in the back seat. I guess we shouldn't have back seat people drink in our cars :)
    8) I am getting old and the MFD in the 2007 was easier to see.
    9) Voice command was faster in that it does not go through a laundry list of commands before you can tell the lady what you wanted to push the button to ask her to do.

What do I like so far about the 2010?
    1) Most of all I love that I no longer have to Agree to see the NAV screen. The 2010 Nav screen is prettier, but it seems smaller.
    2) I think I will like the solar ventilation. We have been in a deep freeze, so I haven't been able to see how it works or if I like it.
    3) I think I will also like the remote AC. I did not get remote start to simulate remote heat - I find that hybrid cars take longer than non-hybrid cars to warm up. (We have a 2006 Hybrid Highlander too.) I am often almost at my destination before hot air starts coming out. I am not convinced that you get heat with the electric, but need the gas engine to run, thus the drop we all see in the winter on mpg.
    4) I love the moonroof.
    5) I love the lumbar support and the ability to raise and lower the seat. My passenger wishes he could do it with his seat too.

I am sure that I will grow to love the 2010 as much as my 2007 in time. Or maybe I will be in the market for a 2012/3 plug-in????

There is a place for sunglasses (at least in mine) that drops down from above the rearview mirror. By the interior lights.

I haven't figured out where to put my change yet, but I use that little tray in the console for my iPod when I have it plugged into the USB. I read that someone got a small plastic tray for change and puts it in that "weird" storage place under the shifter (or whatever it's called.) I think I may do that. I'm with you on wishing there was more storage in the doors!

Hmm, did I sacrifice the sunglass holder for the solar roof package?

The solar roof models do not have the space for sunglasses.

You can disable the navigation lady from reading all the commands. I forget where it is found or what is says exactly but it is in there somewhere.

Ohh sorry! :( I didn't know you didn't get it with the solar panels. That's dumb! I have the V and it's in mine. I haven't tried putting my sunglasses in there yet though, let's hope they fit! Maybe put yours in the weird storage space? Mine will be going there if they don't fit in the holder. I've only had my car for 2 days and haven't put all my stuff in it yet! :)

If you disable her for the commands, does she still talk for the navigation? Or does it disable her completely?

There's a thread on here where many were complaining theirs do not fit so check it out. My Oakley don't fit but I wouldn't put them in there anyway since the heat will mess with the lenses. I just leave an old and I mean old pair of Gargoyles in there as a backup.

The navigation will still speak to you for directions. It just makes it so when you press the voice button on the wheel it beeps and waits for your command, a list still gets displayed on the screen as well.

Ok, to turn off the lady after pressing the voice recognition button on the wheel goto:

Setup, voice, and turn off the Voice Recognition Guidance.

Also, page 242 in the nav manual has more info.

Good to know, thanks! I will def be turning her off then!

And Paradox, I think I may have seen that... I'll have to check with mine! My luck my favorite pair probably won't fit! I have several pairs though, so maybe a smaller pair will fit. We will see! :)

Downright scary that North Americans had to wait until late May calender year 2009 to get that in any Prius. A nine year wait for that while Corollas had it all along.

My sister said it well in conversation last week - "You'd think Toyota would have set the 'Gen2' seat lower so at least tall people would have a chance to see, and shorter drivers could always sit on a seat cushion'.

OP, fair observations. I agree with most of them, especially the cup holders.
