I bought my Gen 3 in July of 09, in the past few months I have experienced an intermittent key fob.

Sometimes it doesn't register and I have to pull it out of my pocket and hold it up to the start switch, also sometimes I can't open or lock my doors with it (in my pocket).

    Anyone else having problems?

I am not having any problems but it was mentioned that the battery life is not long in the fob (maybe a year?).

I bought my Gen III in August of 2009 and am not having any problems with the key fobs.

    dogllama,

While this question may seem strange, but on the days that you have experienced this, did you happen to have a cellphone (or specifically, an iPhone) in your pocket with it? If so, this could be happening as the phone can sometime interfere with the transmission of the sugnal of the keyfob if it stays to close to your phone. The simple solution is to keep them in different pockets.

I am not aware of this causing any phone or fob issues, except while they are in close proximity. Otherwise, you should be good.

Of course, if you answer "No', there was no phone, then I am not able to assist.

Are you experiencing the same thing with the other fob?

As a matter of fact I do have an iPhone and I do keep my phone and my fob in the same pocket!

I will try switching pockets, thank you for the tip!

Simply don't use the trendy iPhone. :)
The low battery condition will be indicated on the MID in an advance.
