Hybrid busses exist yes. They work. What I was pointing out is that the hybrid class 8 trucks you spoke of do not exist. They are only concepts at this point. None are in production.

Volvo does not manufacture a hybrid truck. Its only in concept stages at this time. Not available for purchase anywhere.

As to your comment about plenty of carrying done by lighter weight vehicles. You do realize that most of the contents of those "lighter weight" vehicles was brought to the terminal by a semi truck. Those lighter weight vehicles are mainly used to deliver from the store to the consumer

Again as I said the Class 8 trucks are concepts. Those are only 2 available for long term testing.

As to the two navistar trucks. Those are not heavy hauling Class 8 trucks. There is a huge difference between those and class 8 trucks.

Trucks like this one are about the only style hybrid technology provides a true advantage. These spend ALOT of time at idle.

Class 8 trucks do not.

 

When Peterbilt produces one truck, that means that it is in production. They are all made to a specific order.

BTW, look at the date on the first link, that truck went into service in 2007.

There are also hybrid refuse trucks available now, that application seems to be a natural fit for hybrid technology.

 

Dog you do realize that that one truck is the only one available anywhere. It was ONLY BUILT for testing purposes.

Go down to your peterbuilt dealer try to order one. You cant. They are not available for production yet.

Click on any one of the trucks in your pic you wont see specs features or a buy option. Why because they dont exist yet and are not available for purchase to anyone

Doggy. For a truck to be considered a production vehicle they have to be available for public order. The trucks in that article are concepts only. They were given to walmart by the respective manufacturers for testing purposes only.

They are not available for order by anyone.

Go to a dealer try it. See what they tell you.
