Worst interior ever...'nasty' bisque cloth interior

I agree, my 2004 also has that bisque cloth interior. I've also got the black rubber all-weather mats which help to protect the carpet.

My HiHy has a beige cloth interior and that also is not the easiest to keep clean. Guess you need to pick the grey color if you want an easier-to-care-for interior.

 

Yep, I wish I had chosen the grey interior color. I picked the bisque because I think leather looks better in a "natural" color, but it is difficult to keep clean, especially if you let other people and pets travel in the car.

 

My 2005 was the bisque and it was never clean. Thank goodness the newer ones have more choices in the darker range. So far so good on my 2010 with dark grey interior!

 

Bisque, ivory or light tan is not unique to Toyota, so it shouldn't be called out for offering it.

Black dirt on bisque will always look worse than black dirt on gray.

I could live with a bisque leather interior. But if I had bisque cloth, it'd look terrible pretty quickly.

I think that Toyota and others who offer bisque interiors should have the armrest covers, center console covers, carpet mats, etc. in black. This would make for a nice, contrasting, two-tone effect (like the 2010's Misty Gray interior), and the interior would always look cleaner than if it were all bisque.

 

I couldn't believe all the light coloured interiors at the Detroit Auto Show, what are you guys thinking? In Australia most interiors are dark. It makes it easier to see out and keep clean looking. When I asked a few reps why they had so many light coloured interiors they said it is what Americans want and buy.
Keep the white and tan furniture for home, your car is a tool, keep it practical.

BTW, I found these pics of the bisque cloth interior with black higher wear parts. I think it looks great -- but you can judge for yourself how well it works.

Yeah my Bisque interior seems to be a dirt magnet! Trying some seat covers to keep the seats clean and my frustration level down.

Boy do I dig the way USBSeawolf2000's wood trim kit looks!! Right after I finish my stereo upgrade...(IF I ever finish...)

 

Since leather was not an option that was easily had back in 2004 ... one of the 1st mods for us was to change over to bisque leather. Betweem my oily skin, and the black lab sheding ...




the cloth was a mess. Problem solved.

That is the reason my GF talked me into getting the leather - because she didn't think the cloth seats would hold up with our dogs.

 

We have leather sofas and chairs as well as bisque leather seats in our Priuses. We keep them clean, soft and supple by using Weiman brand "Leather Wipes" regularly. We get them at the local grocery store. They're like Handi Wipes, but for leather.



(No, I don't work for Weiman or have any connection with them.)

 

Lexol also has both cleaning and conditioning wipes (they've been a big name in auto leather care for many years). And ArmorAll also has leather wipes. Just don't use the ArmorAll vinyl product - it will dry out leather.

Yes, usbseawolf2000's wood looked great -- he had the good taste to know that "less is more". (Unlike the wood pictured above.)

 

This is just reality. My 1993 Honda has a black dashboard and light tan interior everywhere else. Yes, light colors show dirt much easier and rapidly.

Next purchase I'm getting a darker interior. But there are advantages to a lighter interior. IMO when clean they look more upscale, or unique. I also think the lighter color can be psychologically uplifting. Seriously. I've been in cars that the interior was so dark it was like entering a cave.

Misty Gray or Bisque, I think just means a greater commitment to cleaning products. But as some of the pictures show, greater commitment can bring great results.

 

To each his own...but I like seawolfs a lot better looks classy. This is woodgrain overkill IMO. That's too much woodgrain, expect a Pirate Ship Wheel and a Sail.
