Ottawa, Ontario – In 2006, when I drove my first Toyota Prius, I remember thinking that it was fine to drive, and awfully good on gas, but pretty boring, and not the kind of thing that I would ever consider buying for myself.

So, either I’m getting old, or this new, third-generation Prius is a lot better than the one it replaced, because while driving the 2010 model, I found myself thinking, hey, this isn’t such a bad way to get around.

I like his statement, "My Prius tester averaged 5.2 L/100 " ... I couldn't help but think back earlier in the day. A gen III tech package was coming up in my rear view mirror at light speed . My first thought was the complaint, "why is my mileage so bad?"

    gee ... go figure

Come on! He just got 4 years older. Perception of the Prius is getting better. Of course the car got better too. People are rediscovering the joy of driving with the least stress, after all the brainwashing of "sporty race car" style being the way to go.

That's not bad actually. Most journalists here get between 5-6L/100km during their test drives of the Prius (2G or 3G). A few that do bother to learn can get it into the mid 4s which is more like what we're getting. Plus, remember he's in Ontario. It's Canada's equivalent of California.
