Nothing. He likes the Dutch. It's complicated but he's a Yorkshire man and wouldn't mention you if he didn't like you. I can't explain it but anyone from Yorkshire and possibly England might understand.

 

Ah yes - hydrogen... That's the petrolhead's magic bullet. Nevermind that the elemental properties have serious, severe limitations - it goes "vroom"...

And if we're on the topic of lifecycle costs, won't all that nickel currently being dug out of the ground for our hybrids be reclaimed/recycled when they are junked? That should cost a lot less than mining it the first time around.

 

In the video it says "sustained electric only propulsion" - I didn't the Honda system could do that. Can it?

 

Ah, but which came first? His revue or people working out the Insight had too many compromises?

Oh and I'll add this in - I normally like Clarkson but he is soo angry about the Prius and soo wrong. You don't know if he is saying these things just for effect or whether he hates the Prius because it's not a performance car. The the other day I worked it out, Clarkson has sold out to the oil companies. He wrote an article last week in a Sunday paper about his time in South Africe at the world cup and how well his hosts BP looked after him!!

Enough said.

 

Yeah, being pampered by Ford, Merc and BP would give you a slightly warped world view...

It surprises me that May puts up with it, given in his other programmes he's come across as intelligent, sensible and fairly unbiased. i'm thinking of when he got taken up in the U-2, and the sight of our planet brought him to tears...

Agreed, I like Clarkson...but only as entertainment. I love Top Gear...but only as entertainment. When it first started, it was factual but now it's all about entertainment and it has been for years...and it is entertaining. I take any views and reveiws with a pinch of salt (for as Grumpy put it - these presenters live the high life of the car world...different car every few days, free loaners, hospitality)...they can't avoid being biased.

I love fast cars but I don't own one because they are just over-kill for everyday driving. You can never get the best out of them on public roads without driving irresponsibly...especially on UK roads with all our speed cameras.

So does the Honda Insight get better MPG than the Prius?
