I prefer the original version. Remastered or not, don't buy the blurays. They are no better than the remastered dvd's. Well, the disc might be a bit more durable, and they might have squeezed more on disc. Quality isn't much improved though.

P.S. They did create the transporter for the aforesaid reasons. Leonard Nimoy said so on some documentary I was watching.

Sure, but his memory is suspect. You can't go through a transporter that many times without risking brain damage. ;)

Hmmm. Just became aware of this thread.

As mentioned above, the original episodes have all been re-mastered, mainly special effects and almost all the space shots: better ships, planets, etc. Even before HD the remastered versions reveal much that could not be seen before including the plywood grain of the the walls, cheap seams, and Shatner's, um, hairline.

Now for those of you who love TOS, go immediately to startrekphase2.com, and download some episodes. If you want to get the full experience, start with the first episode, so you get used to new actors in the old parts, and also see the progressive increase in quality as they go along. If you want to see the best episode, download "World Enough and Time," with George Takei. It is as good as ANY commercial Star Trek and will make you cry.

Unfortunately, no. I am in the episode "Kitumba" which is third in line for release, so it will be possibly a year before you see me in the red shirt.

I don't recall ever watching Lost. Either my quote is not from there, or perhaps I've time jumped too many times.

r u trying to say that "Lost" does not qualify as classic sci-fi?

wellll... ok, i guess sci-fi generally is either based on science or at least provides some sort of explanation, so Lost does not qualify on that...

but there is also the plots with many underlying themes... but then again, in Lost, their were so many plot lines and twists, even the writers got "lost"

If I had a starfleet Prius....

This would go on the side of it (like the old WW2 planes):

Are you out of your Vulcan mind? :D

Worf says Earth females are too fragile, and Klingons and Vulcans are pretty close on the evolutionary tree, aren't they? Are you sure you're up for that? ;)

I love the Betty Page stuff. Mixing it with Star Trek is brilliant!

Lost definitely did get lost.....last season coming up.

Brain damage and time travel can be seen on Heroes (NBC)

    Definitely tempting.

Plus a row of Klingon and Romulan symbols for "kills".
