Are the gas prices in Canada fixed, where each station sells for the same price? When I was in Québec a few years ago, all the prices were the same.

btw, any single female Canadians on the forum who may be interested in a Canadian wannabee? :D
I would love to move to Canada. I have visited Canada about a dozen times already, planning another trip for this summer.

Gas prices work this way where I live. The stations all go up and down together within a few hours of each other. Of course, though, there is no price fixing.

Of course they are fixed,, but not in the way you suggested. They go up in lock step on Thursday before a long week end, especially in the summer! We are currently paying 109.9 cdn/litre in NW ONT. (Over $5 to Americans!)

(Not that I care much, as I think higher prices are a good thing on balance)

Certain provinces have regulated pricing, others don't.

do not know but stations within x radius tend to have the exact same price, yes. Sometimes, it's 1 or 2 cents more in the "richer" area. It also greatly varies from province to province. It's as low as 88.9¢/litre to 110.9¢/litre for 87.

Ours go up and down with the weekend tourist traffic. At the end of the week they pop up. After the weekend they drop.

#1. It's denominated in Canadian dollars, which are worth like 11 cents each so it doesn't matter, right?...right?

#2. May also move to Canada, Eh?

Eleven cents? No, the Canadian and US dollars have been pretty close to par for several months now.

Thanks, I meant to say "regulated" instead of "fixed".

PEI has regulated prices and I believe NB may have them as well.

    Hyo,

BC has high gas prices due to carbon tax right?

While the rest of North America wrangles on about Cap and trade and other (IMHO) dumb ways of taxing carbon, BC has gotten it right. I was never a fan of the BC liberal party, but they sure get it when it come to this issue. I wish others were so enlightened.

Yes, fuel taxes in BC are the highest in the country. GST is applied on top of PST, somewhat unfairly, and there's a transit tax in there too. A parking tax is also in the works, but is being vociferously opposed.
(What? You'd rather have all auto expenses paid for by motorists, instead of from income taxes and property taxes? Fine by me!) :)
