    I saw this and wondered what our American (and Canadian) friends think of the following link;

    BBC News - Could America take to cricket?

    I can just see you in your cricket whites wasting a sunny afternoon whilst drinking tea :D

    So, do you think it'll catch on? and what twist would you add? :eek:

    Football? Oh, you mean handball. :p

    Soccer is everywhere around here. Every field is busy all weekend long - boys play Saturday, and girls play Sunday. Weekday practices are held under lights in the winter.

    You don't play Rugby and that's much rougher than that game you call football. You won't see Rugby players in padded gear and helmets.

    But I thought that was cos you weren't any good at it. Whereas with Cricket you couldn't be any worse than the England team :(

    Yes, we do. It was the first organised team sport I played. There are Canadian rugby teams at many levels, for both men and women. Pads are for wimps. :)

    Ooops sorry didn't see the BC in your profile. I know the Canadians play it but you have ice hockey which I believe is popular :) That never took off over here, though there are ice hockey teams in most cities.

    Wonder if our American friends have played or even heard about Rugby?

    Yes, hockey is very popular, and it's definitely a blood sport.

    BTW, thank you for recognising the distinction between Canadians and Americans. :)

    No problem. It's easy to make the distinction. Canada is like the best bits of American and Europe all rolled into one. If you could heat it up a little in the winter time you'd be onto a winner :D

    It is going to take a LOT of beer to sell Americans on curling. (I grew up watching curling on Victoria and Vancouver channels from Bellingham)

    Actually, those of us in the northern "blue" states have attitudes much closer to Canadians than to Real Americans (NASCAR, beer, and guns).
