Beeping - lights flashing - has this happened to you?

    This morning on my way to the Metro station, when I turned a corner I heard a short beep and the overhead light flashed on then off. Kind of gave me a scare, but I didn't see any messages or warning lights on the dash. Then it happened again when I went over a bump ... and several more times after that.

    I figured it must be a door that was not shut properly shut but there was no door warning light, even when it beeped and flashed. After I got to the station, I went to the back and checked the hatch. It felt like it might have been not fully closed, so I opened and closed it tightly. By the way, I hadn't opened the hatch in the morning and I believe I had locked the car overnight, so if it wasn't closed properly it was still letting me lock the car.

    I guess that was it because I had no problem on the way home this evening.

    Has this ever happened to you?

    Yes, sounds like the hatch was not fully closed. The switch in the hatch is probably not adjusted correctly as it should have been "on".

    Try turning the car on, putting it in "D", then opening the drivers door. You'll get the same thing. You had the intermittent warnings because the hatch was bouncing.

    No, I had no message or warning light. Just a short beep and the overhead lights go on and off.

    I have noticed that the trunk takes a FIRM push to close correctly 100% of the time. The key in car alert thing has happened to me a few times now I close it with so authority ;-)

    Didn't anyone get a "Door Ajar" light? Normally if the hatch is ajar you'll get a constant beeping with the light on the dash will illuminate.

    Did it stop after you opened and firmly re-closed the hatch?

    I came home and looked it up online, then went out and opened/closed the hatch and all 4 doors. Will report tomorrow if it goes away or not.

    No more beeping/lights tonight on my drive home, so it must've been because the hatch wasn't tightly shut. Strange it doesn't flash an ajar idiot light instead.
