I know, this seems to be your modus operandi when presented with facts that you can't deal with ....LA, LA, LA, LA - I can't hear you - LA, LA, LA LA.

    What's the Homer Simpson line?

Those are all opinions and estimations. I don't disagree with them but time will have to determine the true extents.

However these opinions and estimations are not facts and they have nothing to do with your statement about recalls which either you made up or which you blindly repeated from hearing it on a radio station which repeated something made up from some unknown source.

The recall statement that you made is the only one under discussion. It's the only one where there are objective and verifiable facts. Do the homework. Your statement was fallacious and it remains fallacious. If I didn't already know the correct data I wouldn't have called you out on it.

I still don't know what your point is, but, please don't try to explain. No need for such long tedious posts any longer. I’m tired of them.

Toyota may face HUGE challenges for the next few months and maybe years because something totally unexpected, like an unprecedented safety recall in the company, just happened (clear evidence of poor quality no matter what you say). Toyota has also suspended the sales of millions of cars because of that, which I believe it is unprecedented in auto industry. Forget about other recalls... we are discussing Toyota’s recall here. Get over it and leave me alone...

Employ the software that will cancel throttle output when both the gas and brake pedals are pressed....or set it so brake on braking power is cancelled.

It seems as simple as that and now when most manufacturers are using software it should and is a simple enough fix.

Our question now should be why haven't auto manufacturers done this.

Now back to our Priuses. Can someone tell me if the 2006 Prius is included in the recall. Toyota site say yes and no depending on which Toyota site you read.

    Yep that's accurate now.

You brought up the subject of other maker's recalls but there's nothing more to be discussed. Hope you can sell your Prius for a good price soon. :D

No recall due to the accelerator pedal issue on 2006 Prius or any model year Prius or Hybrid Toyota.

However there is a recall on the floormat issue on the 2006 Prius. Toyota will begin recalling on the floormat issue this month and it will continue for several months. You will recieve a letter when your Prius is scheduled for the floor mat recall.

Until your Prius is recalled on the floormat issue do the following:

You can continue to use the factory carpeted floor mat if you have them attached to the two restraining hooks on the floor board. Do not use any floor mats that are NOT attached to the retaining hooks on the floorboard, also do not stack floor mats on each other and do not use the all weather rubber mat.

Toyota already had plans to implement the brake override functionality over the next several model releases. I don't know about the other US makers, Honda and Nissan but I'd guess that they were going to do so soon so as not to be left in a competitive vacuum.

After this mess, Toyota is retro-fitting the software flash into existing vehicles where it can be done. I'd feel fairly sure now that all new vehicles will be getting it ASAP before leaving the factory.

TFM just above gave you the real scoop. There are two recalls..
    No 1 involving the mats concerns the 2004 - 2009 Gen 2 Prius....NOT the 2010 Gen 3
No 2 involving the CTS pedals concerns neither the Gen 2 nor the Gen 3 Prius.

With which manufacturer's car do you plan to replace the 2010 Prius?

And maybe in the fullness of time you will learn to love your 7-month old 2010 Prius, as gas prices start their inevitable rise and the current media generated, internet hyped, 24/7, multiple (mis)information panic attacks subside!

Maybe and I certainly hope for some mystical power to embrace my thoughts and make me forget about trading it... but until that happens I would appreciate a car that drive and feels like... say, a car.

Getting a horse could work. If fed regularly, they're fairly reliable and very cheap to run! :)

Let's just say that I love my solid and very functional German microscope...

My colleague next door has a pretty fancy Japanese one that has all unimaginable sorts of expensive filters and digital stuff, especially impressive to the innocent eyes from those visiting his office.

Yet, ever once in a while, my coleague brings a specimen over and say:

"... do you mind sharing your scope... I'm struggling a little bit with this rather subtle change and I can't help it but admit that the optics in your scope makes it much easier..."

    "Sure... be my guest...." :)

    You get the point.

INDYKING - I thought I had good taste with the Prius!!!!

TOYOTAFLEETMANAGER - OK. I heard you and if those cars are the ones supplied at the summit, why was the one next to his a different manufacturer? Now, I would also like to ask you.......EXACTLY WHAT years are the gas pedal recall concerning? 2008? 2009? I have an 08 and my daughter has an 09. That's why i'm asking for those years.

Genoz, I can help with that. No Prius has a recall for the gas pedal. Only the floor mats. If you are asking about the other models, such as the Camry, I can help with that also. Some of the Camry's are built in Japan. The gas pedal is supplied by an american manufacturer. So Toyota will not ship a part across the world to bring that part back across the world. Therefore, all Japanese built vehicles are exempt. Speaking strictly of the Kentucky plant (where all avalons, 99% of Camrys (including Hybrids), and all Venzas are built) run on 2 different lines. Venzas and Camry Hybrids are built on Line #2. Those are not affected by the recall. Even some of the ICE Camrys are built on Line#2. That is why there are different VINs for the Camrys. ALL of the Camrys built on Line #1 have the defective part.

In today's news: They named the Prius specifically but I wasn't sure if they were referring to only the 2010 model or Gen II as well. They stated the problem is in the software as well as the floor mat. anyone have any new news about this?
