Costco rotated our Michelin HydroEdges 1st thing this morning. After grocery shopping we went over to sign paperwork to pick it up. The trunk wouldn't open via SKS. The remote wouldn't work either. Tried the driver's door & it was unlocked. Just then the Prius seemed to start all by itself. That's because the MFD showed the traction pack pulled down into the red ... and it came back on simpy to recharge. EEeK! My poor mpg's! They'd left it running. That hasn't happened since we bought it in 2004. Anyone else have the service guy leave your car running?

No, but I'm sure the valet at the Holiday Inn-Midtown left the 2006 on all day--twice.

I had my alignment checked a couple of years ago and the tech insisted that it be in N when on the alignment rack. The battery was down to one bar when I got it back and drove away from the shop. It acted really strange until the charge built back up to 3 bars.

Same with me, alignment dudes had the SOC down to 2 bars when I got it back. Is the big round power button that confusing?

The alignment has to be done in neutral so they can have the tires freewheeling. The way the stupid car is set up, you CANNOT shut it off in neutral, it automatically goes into park. How idiotic is that? There have been many problems of dead batteries and the car couldn't be moved to get to it to charge it. There's something that Toyota didn't quite think all the way through. Again.... if the designers had to deal with some of the things they think are great.... MAYBE THEY WOULD DO IT RIGHT! Sorry for the rant... I'm done now.

Just force charge the battery up to 80% then you will have a long time in neural as the pack drains.

Ah that gives a bit more reasonable cause/effect. Even if there is a solution it's not quite as simple as most in and out service shops would like to entertain.
