    wow.. i think we have a winner! I was gonna post mine which looks like yours but at least I could still make out the plate and stuff... yours just blows everything away!

    Ditto on my winter gray. Too bad I washed it last week when the temps were briefly above freezing. It made Spiderman's car look clean! :eek:

    I am beginning to think there is some Magnetic Field at the back of the car....they do seem to COLLECT EVEN LIGHT SNOW!

    I think I would be afraid to try it. :eek: Seems like steam might get into places where water wouldn't? I'll just wait till spring and clean under the hood by hand, maybe some soap and water if I keep it away from the electrical/electronic parts.

    Yeah, when it is dark when I leave for work and getting dark when I come home, the lights are very important.

    It's been raining and muddy here for weeks now. I don't remember my other cars ever getting this dirty and the way my prius gets dirty.... I tried to capture the stripes. It ends up with windblown mud strips on the backs of the mirrors and the front near the windows and headlights. I've never had a car that gets dirty with style before! ;)

    My 97 Camry was the same way actually worse. Mud streaks would cover the side windows pretty bad. The Prius is not too bad there, but the body and even worse the rear end; is caked. I need to update the photo... it is even more horrific then before.

    well it got pretty dirty last Mon. I got trucks splashing who the heck knows what on top of the snow that was falling and well when I got to work, it looked like I participated in a rally (even the moonroof and solar panels had streaks!). My pillar and mirror looked like Octavia's pic.

    Alas, I didn't take a pic. I had to wash it asap and now it's clean and shiny (although the paint is very rough. I definitely need to claybar it in the summer)

    Well it looked like your first pic but not as brown in the lower air dam.


    I think I'll add the 3M film. Too many small chips on the hood. Is it too late? The chips aren't that noticeable.

    Good question. In hindsight, I think I should have invested in the film rather than the mud guards.

    Is the film only for the front half of the hood? Does it yellow over time?

    I have seen film that was applied 5 years ago and it still looks clear. I think you can get as much covered as you wish. I have the front half of the hood, front bumper, mirrors, and headlights. I shopped around and got it for $600, some places wanted over a $1000. I could have had the entire hood covered for a little more but I didn't think it was needed.

    Had mine done last September right after I got the car. It has protected it just fine so far and they use little lava rocks instead of sand or salt on the snow and ice here.

    Good grief, that volcanic rock is extremely corrosive isn't it? Extra grip I am sure but that has got to do a number on the engines.

    It's actually suppose to be sand but it's pretty course so I call it rocks. Doesn't get in the engine because it doesn't seem to make dust it just stays on the road. It can chip the paint and I have even had a couple of pitted windshields from the bigger pieces.
