Here are a couple of updated photos. Yuck! The real problem is trying to get in and out of the car without getting my work clothes dirty! :)

My car has a new color that you can't get from the factory.....from the bottom to top, it starts with a nice ice melt salt white and fades into the dark gray at the top. I have run the car through the auto car washes twice this winter already to keep that crap off the car, but it seems like this year we are getting another inch or two of snow every weekend to which the great crew of DelDOT puts down more salt than we had snow. To top that off, where I work has an exposed top level on the garage and there is ALWAYS an inch of sand on top of everything.

The sad part, is that this pales in comparison to what happened to my Civic Hybrid 2 years ago at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Ohio at the end of May. It got covered in Seagull poo to the point where you almost couldn't touch the car without touching the poo. Downright NASTY!! Needless to say, I'd rather have the winter mess on the car than go through the seagull mess again! Oh, you thought I learned my lesson on that?? Heck no!! I'm headed back to Cedar Point this coming May with the Prius! Maybe I should invest in a car cover before the trip!

    I know!
I wore light colored pants to work today and had the same problem. My hands get filth on them when I try to open the hatch too.

It can cover as much as you want. My neighbour has a Gen 9 Corolla (98-02... i think it's 98 or 99) with a film and it still looks clear (assuming he applied it when it was fairly new)

You brought up a good point. Last week, I kept getting my pants dirty when I was brushing the snow off the roof!

I've learned when getting in the car to put my left hand behind me over the weather strip on the body so the back of my slacks would brush by my hand rather than the potentially dirty black weather strip.

The hard part is not to wipe your now dirty hand on your pants leg.:D

The cure for that would be to copy the Chaparral J2. Fans in the rear suck air out from under the skirted car to create traction while pushing air out in the back to eliminate the vacuum. This car is in my opinion the greatest aerodynamic design in history of race cars that have to turn.

I have seen that car along with its winged predecessors, Jim Hall was a genius. I think those pictures may have been taken at Laguna Seca?

Jim Hall was a genius with money. That combination is hard to beat. I am not sure about the place at which those were taken but here is the website:

    http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/91/Chaparral-2J-Chevrolet.html

I have always wondered why car manufacturers haven't copied this idea in some lesser form because it does create stability and aerodynamics. If the intakes were in the front instead of under the car air resistance would be very low. Electric fans instead of the massive two stroke engine powered fans that he used could be substituted.

happened some hours after I washed it. I parked behind a bush fence, and the owner decided to water it with a hose.

Spectra Blue also doesn't hide the road salt all that well.
