ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END.

Toyotas quality and service is no better than anybody else.

Today, Toyota owners are getting rid of their cars, trading them for Chevys and Fords.

Toyota shares plunged 5.7 percent to 3,400 yen ($38) with jittery investors dumping stocks in the wake of the Prius and other car woes in the U.S. and Japan. The benchmark Nikkei stock index edged up just 0.3 percent to 10,404.33 as the drop in Toyota dampened sentiment.
"Investors were worried the latest trouble involving the Prius and other cars could get bigger.
The problem could pose a bigger question on Toyota's quality and safety.

For those of you that do not agree with me, more power to you!!

Please understand that my statement about the Titanic is just a way to describe this safety issue problem, you don't mess with people's safety.
***This issue is alot more serious than you think.
Also today, Toyota announced problems with the 2010 Prius brakes.
    Please watch the 6pm news.
This will hurt Toyota for a long time, not just a couple of months.
The U.S. Goverment is now getting involved.

What's the point of your whole post? Should it suprise anyone that Toyota's stock is suffering at the moment? Not me.

Investors are investors and they make money by reacting.

Automakers are automakers and I still think Toyota is a good one.

Short term, I'd buy Toyota Stock.

Long term, I think Toyota will emerge from all of this.

I think the future value of your Prius is secure.

If you are scared...go trade yours in, I hear competitors are offering incentives.

How much do you think he'll get on a trade-in for a car that nobody wants?

Turn your Prius into a race car! You want as much acceleration as you can get.

    Yawn.

Don't you remember the "sky is falling" cries during the GM bankruptcy?

    THE TRUTH HURTS!!!

Toyota will never be the same after this episode.

This 'safety thing' will be on future buyers mind for a long time.

If you don't agree, your lying to yourself.

I agree that Toyota will never be the same...they will be stronger and more aggressive in styling and sales to rebuild their customer base.

You sure are good at yelling there:)
How long this remains on buyer's minds will depend on how well Toyota handles this.
Does the higher incidents of roll overs in Ford Expedition's still remain on buyer's minds? Is Tylonol still sold?
For this Toyota buyer, when I need a new car, I will buy the one with the best gas mileage, or if available a pure EV.
The company that makes that, wheather Toyota, GM, Tesla, Nissan or other will get the sale.

You are perfectly right hold your own opinion. I on the other hand have have no issues with my 2005. I still have 140,000 more miles to go on top of the 140,000 miles I currently have on my '05. At that time in 2014 I will be ready to re-up on yet another Prius. My wife will likely be out of her 'I gotta have a Tacoma' mood by then so she too will likely come along if the Prius sports car is available.

But your opinion is noted and given its appropriate consideration. Isn't it a great nation where all kinds of opinions can be held at the same time?

I wander why there have been only accidents in the us and not one in all over Europe...

One week after Tylenol pulled pills from the shelves and put on the tamper-evident tops, their stock was higher than it was before the tampering stories came out.

20 years after GM quality tanked and their FWD cars were introduced, they still have a poor reputation for quality in the minds of many buyers, and they required untold millions in bailouts from taxpayers just to survive.

It's all in how it's handled. The jury is still out on how forthcoming Toyota is in this incident.

I can see the fear in some Toyota owners, when they are trading them in on other makes.

The 6 pm news is also scaring the public!!!

I love my PRIUS and will keep driving it and will buy another one.

***No I'm not selling my Prius and will buy another one, I just belive Toyota has lost some of its 'IMAGE' with this safety issue.

LOL! I advocate for allowing differing opinions but IMO the only thing sinking faster than the Titanic is this OP's credibility.

Comparing Toyota's immediate trials to the sinking of The Titanic. Then following it up with a LARGE TEXT message including american flag waving smiley Icon? What more proof do you need of OP's intent?

A reasonable opinion would be stating that you think the recent recalls and PR on Toyota could be very, very damaging.

HUGE font screaming and comparisons to a legendary disaster imo is trolling NOT a reasonable opinion put forth for reasonable debate.

And I don't say this lightly...as I do support other opinions..

    This is all just stupid.

The average consumer will forget all about this stuff in 3 months time. Just look how short their memories are when it comes to gas prices. They go high and they trade off their SUVs for small cars. Then the price goes down and everybody runs to buy SUVs again and seem shocked that the price of gas went back up 6 months later.

I agree...well it might take more than 3 months..but...I agree that at this point I don't think this is a mortal wound.

The only caveat might be the upcoming hearings in Washington. If this turns from a recall campaign into a "Scandal" then it could get even uglier.

If it's revealed that Toyota knew of this problem and ignored it or management acted irresponsibly then it could get "End of Game" ugly. I think the public has a short memory and is forgiving BUT I'll be interested in what comes out of the hearings.

I should never accuse anyone unknowingly of being a troll. But really, comparisons to The Titanic, Huge Font call outs stating that people that DON'T agree with you are lying to themselves, along with sentences like "All good things must come to an end" don't make me think too much about the sincerity of your opinion.

Follow that with the change of gears, suddenly I'm a reasonable guy just wanting to talk....?????

Start reasonable and stay reasonable if you want an opinion to float.
