Prius accident

    There are few details about this accident. Late at night an older driver and a six lane street. Given the population of Prius, there should be 3-5 this year.

    I think the figure for auto-related deaths last year was 36,000. Simply by sales volume..
    • GM vehicles should be involved in about 10,000 of those ( always the most vehicles sold )
    • Ford vehicles should be involved in about 8,000 of those ( higher volume sales in past years )
    • Toyota vehicles should be involved in about 6,000 of those
    • .

    • .
    • .
    • Lamborghini vehicles...??

    I know what the problem is - Brake Shoes! Not on the car, on the driver. He was wearing running shoes with a low coefficient of friction heel when his foot slipped off the brake pedal and hit the gas.

    I can see it now, a recall on millions of pairs of running shoes (right foot only)...

    It takes a day or so before I figure out how to get the accident report. Right now, we just don't have enough information beyond date and location.

    Relax folks, this is just another datapoint ... don't set your hair on fire.
