With all the recent troll threads from all the new low time posters attacking some new item, I am taking a break for a while. The latest being the Adaptive Cruise Control thread claiming that it keeps slamming on the brakes.

It is too much to wade through all the trolls.

It kind of depends on how long of a 'vacation' you take. And how well Toyota responds to the real issues.

I fully understand wanting to take a break, since you can't take a brake :D

Perhaps a break could be taken; just not while attempting to brake?

I feel the same. I've had my prius for a while and driven it in all kinds of conditions all across this country. I understand that some people are having issues, but if you weren't having issues before (like many people) then all of a sudden thousands of people are having problems once its on the news. I have never had braking issues at all with the prius or any of the other malfunctions.

It appears to me that 50% of these brake problems are invented. Even people in this very thread.

when you take a look through people's posts, which is a great feature by the way, nothing is mention of their brakes until recently.

If something was such a danger many people would've noticed in the 6 years since the gen II was produced (the Gen III is new so I have no comment). Even look back at threads from 4 months ago. it is a fraction of what they are now. It's like people are trying to fit gen III problems onto gen II. Just an FYI the braking system is different with different components as well as different software.:target:

This is off topic, but several owners have described the sudden transition from regen to friction braking as a concern on their cars. These posts date from before the lethal crash incident of the Lexus in San Diego. This is just a few results from a quick search of the Prius II Main Forum.

This appears to be a separate issue due to some kind of electronics failure:

I really wish we had more evenhanded responses in the wake of the Toyota recalls. Calling individual drivers incompetent (and basically blaming the individual when there is potential for there to be issues with the car) for being scared by this is really unfortunate and worsens our image as being smug elitists with a poor attitude.

EDIT: bestmapman, enjoy your vacation. Did you know that a recent study correlated online community use with depression? Maybe you'll be happier taking a little break.

5 posts for 6 years worth of auto manufacturing is less than 1% of Gen II Prius'. That sounds more like individual problems than a design flaw. Again People do get lemons or malfunctioning cars, but I can honestly say for the gen II the incidents are few and far between. Then add to the fact that almost all of those brake threads are started by people with extremely low post counts that are never heard from again.

Makes me thinks nothing but Trolls

I am far from elitist, every manufacturer has it's problems, but I am not going to invent a problem for attention. Should I start pulling posters records from this thread just to show how fake they are?
