My breaks went out! Could have crashed in to cross traffic! Plus I could not accelerate!

The OP is shopping for an H1 Alpha. Then it won't matter whether they brake or break. The H1 Alpha breaks other cars when it rolls over them.

Unless it hits a school bus. In that case the H1 driver dies.

Actually, it looks like an H2 that hit the bus. An H1 would have done some damage to the bus. H1s and School Buses are constructed in a similar fashion - liberal use of steel.

Seems to me that the system reacts to losing traction - lose traction while braking, the system makes the inverter go neutral, thus turning off regeneration - which under most circumstances is the actual braking force used to slow the vehicle.

When this happens, it feels like losing the brakes. The OP then says he stomped on the brakes harder and it felt like they were going off/on/off/on. This is the ABS system doing what it should be doing. The OP was probably on ice at the moment.

And they are BRAKES. BREAK is when you DESTROY something ;)

Why isn't this in Fronkenstein's Hovel of Pastiches, instead of a real forum?

OK now I'm even more mad.

    Today my Prius kept accelerating.

I was trying to get on to the highway and merge with traffic. The speed limit is 65mph. I accelerated up to 65mph but the Prius kept going. Strangely people were still passing me very fast. 65mph, 66mph, 67mph, 68mph, 69mph, 70mph, I was wondering when it was going to stop. It continues to 71mph, 72mph, 73mph, 74mph, 75mph, 76mph, 77mph, 78mph, 79mph, 80mph, and now I'm starting to panic a little. Now 81mph, 82mph, 83mph, 84.3mph, 84.4mph, 86mph, 20mph, 87mph, 88mph, 89mph, 90mph, now I'm thinking cool this is fun. Now reaching 91mph, 92mph, 93mph, 94mph, 95mph, 96mph, 97mph, 98mph, 99mph, 100mph!. This is getting out of hand. When will it stop? 101mph, 102mph, 103mph, I start to pass some people now for some reason. 104mph, 105mph, 106mph, 107mph, 108mph, 109mph, 110mph I pressed the power button once and nothing happened. 115mph, 120mph, 130mph, 140mph, 150mph, 160mph, 170mph!!! Luckily it could not go much faster. a few seconds passed and I took my foot off the gas pedal. It started slowing down. Lucky for me I was getting on to the off ramp. I was able to finally stop. This time I did not have any break issues.

Why doesn't Toyota fix this issue?

My offer still stands. $150k for my unsafe plug in Prius. No less.

Listen, I don't mean this as a personal shot at anyone. I make mistakes, guilty of clumsy wording...whatever...but as part of the Recall Education Project, could we get people to understand it's "Brakes" not "Breaks"?

It's Brakes...Braking..Braking System..not Breaks, Breaking or Breaking System.

I frequent a local sports teams forum for discussion and often marvel at how many people come into the discussion with "Looser". The Team is full of a bunch of Loosers!...Come on people...Lost...Lose..Losers...

Sorry: End Rant: Pet Peve of mine.

Guess I just need a Brake from all you Loosers....

In case anyone hasn't noticed, the post was a joke. The use of "breaks" is probably intentional.

I wish my Prius could do 170. I think mine is defective.

Actually, yes I have done that before. Have you done this one of these yet though:

    - When going from driving your Prius to another car, pull on the handle and wonder why the door won't open? Then realize you actually have to reach into your pocket (or wherever you keep the key chain) and actually pull out the fob and push a button first.

    - Same scenario, but you randomly push on the dash and wonder why the car didn't start? Only to realize you have to insert said key into a slot on the dash and turn it. Then you get startled at the loud noise starting the car.

I've had issues going from the Harley to the Prius. I keep trying to turn the key to shut off the Prius. Or, in one instance, turned the bike to "on" and walked into the house. Turns out that's a great way to drain your battery in a week! One reason why I now own a spare harley battery that sits on the trickle charger. And yes, I made the same mistake about a week after that as well. Doh!

I'd be more interested in how he got a Prius up past about 110 mph! I bet he could smoke anyone off the line with that much power in it! I'm jealous lol

    $150k for a Prius that can go 170MPH? I'm on it, that's a bargain :D!

Or maybe not - I'm rather going to sue Toyota because my Prius is faulty. It can't go 170MPH! That's a scandal! Toyota, are you listening? I want another recall to upgrade the HSD!:spider:
