Post Recall Purchaser

I negotiated my trade-in of my 2006 Mini Cooper S and purchase of a 2010 Prius III (no nav) on January 31st. I kept driving my mini as the Prius was in transit. Two days after "purchasing" the car, the recall/brake issue heated up.

Needless to say, I studied news (and this site) about the recall, looked up my rights regarding possible rescission, and searched to see if I could get a rebate or a better deal from another dealer or buy a 2009. In the end, I decided to get the 2010 as ordered. I picked it up last night and did my first commute this morning--55mpg. I love the car and am very happy with my decision. I just wanted to share this in case someone else is in the same position--wondering if they made the wrong decision at the absolute wrong time. It sucks to think the car you finally pulled the trigger on is the subject of national debate. And sure there may be better deals soon (I think I got a good deal with my trade-in), but the car itself is everything I hoped for when I first considered buying it. I am quickly forgetting the controversy and my own worries as I drive the car. Hopefully, it will continue to perform as designed and this recall will just be a blip in otherwise happy ownership.
