I don't count the free coffee and snacks in the waiting area... but the non-free portion of the 5k service was comped (oil change was free anyway) due to an extensive delay after the fact. I guess I could call that a gift.

Cool! I'll forward this thread to my dealer! Nothing like instigating a bit of competition for my own benefit. ^^

In psychological terms that is called "positive reinforcement for good behavior".

P.S. From some of the postings I've seen here lately, I think that some of the Toyota Service Managers should take a few customers out behind the wood shed and spank them (or do their hair and nails).

My dealer was kind enough to disable the continuous reverse beep for me at no charge while they had the puter hooked up to it.

I'll help hold them. Dealing with the public and their vehicles, is not a job I'd want to have. I can't grit my teeth that much.

I got a $10 gas card from BP, $25 off my next service, $500 off my next car and a donut and coffee. Not too shabby.

Wow...you guys are SCORING! I doubt I'll be getting anything from my dealership...they don't strike me as the generous type with swag. I was really hoping at the "New Customer" event they held that they would be handing out swag- I'd even wear a Toyota baseball cap to support the company right now- but alas, it didn't happen. I'll let you know if it's anything different when I get my ECU flashed...hopefully next week...still waiting for them to return my call and set up that appointment.

Haven't gone for my brake update yet, but a full page newspaper ad by local dealer Leith Toyota in Raleigh, NC, in addition to offering complimentary beverages and a voucher for next service for all Toyota recalls, also states:

"Toyota's software mod to incorporate the hybrid brake safety feature that shuts off fuel in the event of simultaneous accelerator and brake action goes beyond the recall and is a brilliant decision by Toyota that will go a a long way to restore customer confidence."

This means, I presume, that the unstoppable acceleration issue cannot happen in a hybrid. For the Camry and others, it seems a smart move, but has it been adequately publicized?

Interesting quote, I am unaware of this "hybrid brake safety feature", maybe I missed it. Is this suppose to be part of the brake recall or something we already have? I'll double check again today but I'm almost sure my G3 Prius (brake recall not accomplished) does not shut off fuel when I apply the brakes.

Edit: Tested my G3 today, before brake recall, and it does not cut off fuel when brakes are applied.

I received a nice letter from the owner of the dealership; coffee & donuts (not special though) and my salesman gave me two free admission tickets to the Chicago Auto Show at Mc Cormick Place.

Sorry to go off topic, coffee and donuts sound great. But how are your brakes? How does regen work now, can you still control the amount of regen as observed on the HSI as well as you could before?

Is this safety feature something that all those getting the update will recieve? It should be standard that when you press hard on the brakes it disables the accelerator. This is the first time I have heard about this part of the recall update.

The implication is that this is already part of the hybrid system and thus will only apply to the non-hybrid accelerator recalls.

I doubt I'll get anything from my dealer for free. In fact, there are 2 local ones and they're both owned by the same people! Of course, they did re-program the TPMS codes when I got the snow tires & wheels put on the car. Didn't realize they'd have to do this everything i swap tires though! Might have to learn to drive with the stupid light on for 4 or 5 months a year.
