    Hi everyone,

I bought a used 2009 in early February. I think it is a
package #2, not quite sure how to tell. It has only
7k miles on it, and is in practically brand new condition.
I bought it from a GMC dealer, who had taken it in
trade from an owner who needed more cargo space
for his business (he bought an SUV).

I sense I got a good price on it, in part because
the GMC dealer no doubt had already scored a big
profit on the SUV he sold. Shortly after we
agreed to the price, the news broke about Prius
problems with the brakes and cruise control. While
this doesn't concern me, I keep thinking that I
probably could have gotten another $500 off if
the bad PR had burst out only two days earlier.
Oh well, it's only money! :)

I had rented a Prius a couple of times, and found
them fun to drive, in addition to enjoying the great
mileage. Actually, my first preference would have
been to buy a Ford Fusion Hybrid, since I like
Fords and own several already...but they have way
overpriced their hybrid model (I bought a new '09
Fusion last year for $16.5K...local dealer wanted
    $30Kish for the Fusion Hybrid).

I found "Priuschat" via a google search for Toyota
assessories. I look forward to listening and learning
    from the Prius owners' community!

    John

Welcome. If you list the options, we can probably tell you the package.

I sense that most of the advanced options have
to do with the audio system, and then secondarily
with luxe things like NAV, moon roof, and leather seats.

Mine doesn't have any of the luxury options, and
its audio is the single CD with AM/FM (no SAT).

Anything else you need to know to be able to tell?

By the way, the first "maintenance" I did was to
pump up the tires. The dealer did a nice job
delivering the car to me, all shiney and tank topped
off. But the tires were a tad low, 30 lbs (supposed
to be 35), and the spare was way low, 44 lbs
(supposed to be 60). It was quite a bit of work
removing stuff just to get to the spare!

    Does it have HID headlights?

Also keep an eye on your tire wear. Some people that run the factory spec tire pressures tend to wear out tires prematurely. Many of us run 44/42psi or more. :)

    Hi John,

    Welcome to PriusChat.

Here is the 2009 Prius eBrochure which lists all the standard equipment and the equipment in each of the option packages:

    [IMG] 09_prius.pdf

From this eBrochure, you should be able to figure out what option package you have. BTW, there's no factory moon roof available in any Gen II (2004-2009) Prius.

Also here's the 2007 Prius Owner's Manual on pdf (99% or more of which is applicable to the 2009 Prius). It comes in very handy for doing word or phrase searches to quickly find what you're looking for:

Also, you may find handy an approximately 70 page User Guide for the 2004-2009 Prius aka the Iconic Prius prepared by john1701a. Go to his website and download the User Guide for the Iconic Prius:
