My Prius is base, and does not have the smartkey feature. Would it be possible to add? What parts etc would you need? Anyone tried this?

[Could not find any info on this with search of GenII forums]

    It will be cost prohibitive...

If you love SKS so much, just make sure you get it in your next vehicle.
There is too much work and effort involved. No sane dealer will do it for you, not to mention the cost involved (labor, parts, and uncertainty of success).
SKS control locking, and ignition. It has several sensors in hatch, doors, etc. The central BCM (body control module) is different also (needs a new one). The problem may propagate and get out of handl

Therefore "cost prohibitive" as said above.

Agree, I'm sure for the cost that it will not be worth the added enjoyment or convenience it will bring to your car experience.

    I agree - cost prohibitive.

the thing that sucks in my case... I bought my 09 Prius while Toyota was giving $1k off. Not two weeks later it's all said and done, I get an email from the dealer... they were selling their in-stock 09 Prius for an additional $2k off. If they were doing that when I bought, I would have haggled for Package 2

Any comments on adding 3 door SKS to a 2010 with 1 door SKS? All it would seem to need would be the extra door & trunk oscillators/antennas and handles.

Not to hijack the thread but can you add SKS to the rear passenger doors on an 05? I have SKS on the 2 front doors and hatch, but it would be nice to have it on the rear doors as well.

No. The system will only accept having two door handles with touch sensors.

You can set the car so all the doors unlock when you touch and of the handles... so it's then just a matter of quickly brushing your hand through the front handle on your way to the back door, instead of having to open the door and hitting the unlock button. The default is to just unlock the door you're touching but the manual tells how to change this... one of the first things I did along with getting rid of the reverse beep. I understand some folks don't like that for security reasons, but I don't live in that kind of area, I guess.

I have it set to unlock all doors when I come to one door. I wish I could program the fob to unlock with 1 button click instead of 2. I know anything is possible but could you "tap" in to the front door(s) wiring for the rear touch sensors? Since I want it to unlock all doors it wouldn't matter what door it thought I was at.

I have a gen III car, so I really don't know how the gen II SKS works. But I can tell you that this would work in a gen III. If you already have three door SKS you could add SKS to the rear doors by tapping into the front door wiring. You can tak a look at my thread here... http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...-passenger-door-1-door-sks-gen-iii-prius.html to get some idea of what would be involved in a gen III car.

    Good luck,
    Brett
