While I understand what is being said, it is decreasing my ever-low respect for dealerships. How did the purchase of a vehicle evolve into a going to place to buy a car and leave feeling like you need a shower? It makes no sense at all.
Now I am perfectly happy with my driver's door only SKS, but on the window sticker describing my options, it says SKS - it does NOT differentuate between the 1 door and the 3 door. That leads to confusion and YES I would expect the salesperson to be able to explain that to me at the very least.
YES, the dealership should know the features on your car. Any half-way decent dealership has a close of sale introduction where they show you how to work the car along with the options. This should have been done before the customer drove it off the lot. Why was she not informed on how the SKS worked at this time?
Good grief, is it really to too much to ask the salesperson know what options are available on the models they sell?

Not all dealers are like that. When my wife and I went window shopping (before I did any research), it was one of the first things the salesperson explained to us as a difference between a III and a IV.

It's still up to the customer to do the appropriate research beforehand to arm themselves against incompetent and unknowledgeable salespeople (unless you want to start paying them physician's salary).

I'm aware that the 3-key SKS feature is rather obscure, even on Toyota's website, but the information is there and can be found if you do your research.
