I have a 2004 Prius that probably needs new struts for the hatchback.
Anyone out there had to replace theirs, and, if so, what did it cost? My dealer quoted me $155.00 EACH, and I was wondering if there were a lower cost option. I'm over 6ft tall, and when the hatch doesn't go all the way up, or stay there, I sometimes crack my head.

Try autopartswarehouse.com, they have them listed for $45.00 each. they are not the original toyota oem struts but they meet the same specification.

****Make sure you select the right one for your car (They are two types of struts for the Prius; with wiper or without wiper)

Great tip! Thanks. Have you replaced your struts with these? I assume that meeting specifications means the struts are well made.
