I was pondering some way to make the charging LEDs visible from outside of the car. Obviously, i could disassemble the charger and solder to the board where the LEDs go. But the main issue is figuring out where and how to display them. Ideas I've had:
    • Putting some panel-mount LEDs in the bumper next to the charge port
    • putting them inside the tail-light
    • putting them in so they can be seen through the rear window.

    Any thoughts on this?

I'd be more concerned about the pack overcharging than the charger thinking the pack is fully charged.

    Hi Adric22,
Yes, I can see the value in seeing at least the red light that truns green without opening the back.

The lights are very bright. Could we set up a light pipe to be visible through the tail light or through the back window?

    Thanks,
    Dan

Of your three choices, the most versatile will be inside the tail-light, it's weather protected and visible, and it has been done by others PHEV's for almost the same applications.
