You can add a name above the address but you can't fix the address. I have to live with my house physically located correctly but showing the wrong address or located down the street from where it really is but showing the correct address.

Who do I contact to get data corrections made and/or get a feature added to override an address?

If you point out an error can you get a free update disk when it comes out? LOL:eek:

Why do you want your real home address and correct location in your navigator? If someone carjacks you and takes your car and your house keys, wouldn't you rather have him rip off your nasty neighbor?

Seriously, the only real reason to have "home" in your navigator is to get back to your home area when you are far away from home. Once you get back in your own neighborhood, if you can't get home from a nearby intersection, maybe you should get a driver.

I was somewhat aware of what you describe but hadn't thought it out well. I removed one sentence from the original op. Perhaps I will use the Police station or City Hall for my Home location. Thank you for helping clarify my thoughts on this.

Now, I would still like to register the corrections and suggestions for a future revision--not that I will spend the money to get it. Thanks again.

BTW, I don't think this is possible but I actually tried it. When parked I removed the Nav DVD and slipped in a Netflix DVD movie. It wouldn't play and I was disappointed. The MP3 slot above isn't a DVD player. To bad that the DVD slot isn't more versatile.

My Nav identifies my home address wrong also. I saw on one thread here that the system takes the GPS signal and divides the house addresses equally for the street or block distance. If your house numbering system is different from the way the system does this, then your address will be off. My son's Garmin has our house address off the same as my Nav.

The Prius nav has me up the block, but on my Garmin Nuvi when I pushed "home" it marked where I was in my driveway. I now have it marked for a neighbor I don't much like.

This is an ongoing frustrating error with the address to coordinate mapping algorithm or data that Toyota uses. I have no such problem with my $200 Garmin. The problem becomes apparent when you try to go to an address you key in - it will get you within about a 1/4 mile, but never to the right address. I have talked to Toyota "help" and my dealer, and "that's the way it is". Thanks, as always, to Toyota for their useless help.

Toyota uses Navteq for their map data. Any corrections should be submitted to them.

All nav systems suffer from this problem. Some are better in some areas, while others are better elsewhere. Generally the underlying data is okay, but individual street numbers are interpolated. Instead of having an entry for each street address, the system has addresses at key points, and calculates in-between addresses. This works okay when the addresses are evenly distributed, but often this is not the case.

Large buildings and points of interest are the exception. These generally have their own database entry.

If a GPS system can get me within one or two houses of the one I am looking for, I believe I can find the house:rolleyes: After all, what did we do before GPS systems?
