I'm gonna to sue Toyota for causing anxiety and and exacerbation of all my psychosomatic problems by forcing me to drive in a vehicle that might take off and kill me at any moment. Not to mention the effect it has one my social life, with people calling an emailing me to ask if I am OK driving that death trap.

And I'm a psychiatrist, so I oughta know.

Street wisdom says to get the factory fill of transaxle fluid
out of there somewhere around 50,000 miles, but there are plenty
of cars running around that haven't had it done until 100k.

My car did make some funny noises once when I turned it on . Does that count?

I got asked by a co-worker yesterday if I felt safe in my car....
Hey Doc, we should talk. I'm feeling a bit anxious now too. Yeah yeah... I mean I'm feeling a LOT anxious. ;)

His car is 2 years old (2008 model). It just started to happen all of a sudden?

I am not saying there can not be defective parts. The critical safety devices have redundancy or fail-safe operations to avoid such scenario.

MG2 can not accelerate and regen at the same time, when the brake pedal is pressed.

There is a part in the Prius when it's on the road that has the greatest chance of failing, and does frequently. It's the nut behind the wheel!

    -ALWAYS- suspect that part FIRST!!

Nope...but then, I use my brakes about as often as my accelerator...not much!

We haven't heard from the Doc since yesterday. Do you think he is still with us? I'm concerned.

I'm only at roughly six years and two months, but I don't drive nearly as much as other folks. I think I'm somewhere between 25K and 30K miles. I mostly drive the Xebra.

I do experience SIA on the rare occasions when I drive the Prius. (Sudden Intended Acceleration.) But no SUA. As for my brakes, they fade out every time I lift my foot off the brake pedal.

Every make and model of car ever manufactured in large quantity has the occasional defect. We've had posters who had the bad luck to wind up with a lemon Prius. It just happens a lot less often with Toyota cars than with the Big Three.

But step on the wrong pedal and your car will behave in a manner you did not intend, sometimes with disastrous results.

I was considering this for regarding my own Prius. I mean I read about all of these supposed problems and safety issue and my poor car has or exhibits none of those traits. It has just worked perfectly day in and day out for the last 107,000 miles. I feel so left out. :(
