Oddly this particular example matches my observations and I'm not sure why. There are several really hot recent model Corvettes in my neighborhood that stand out visually. The courteous way they drive also stands out. I would expect them to flex that machine muscle more aggressively.

Apart from that, I try to stay away from generalizations. An incident last summer in Austin had some pea brains in a Prius shooting bicyclists with a pellet gun. I would not want to be associated with those turds just because I drive the same car.

I'm not sure why, but most Corvettes that I see on the highway are in the right lane, going even slower than my Prius. Maybe the drivers have too many points, can't afford the gas, or perhaps they are just cruising along enjoying their cars. Whatever the reason, I never see pushy Corvette drivers.

"I drive *the* car. Everybody else is driving crap. Hence I don't need to show off at all. My car says already who I am. And if you pi** me off, I can feather touch the gas pedal, and I will blast dust in your face. (but you will see me at the next gas station....)."

Does this describe the average Corvette driver?
The difference with Audi/BMW/Mercedes/Golf GTI drivers in Germany (obviously I am talking those with models that have 150HP/1000kg at least - and there are lots... ;) ), is that they are not in the right lane, never! Always on the right and driving at 200km/h+ - "Get out of my way". And if you have a non-german car, even worse... ;)

I suggest this become Toyota's North American slogan:

If you're tangled up, just tango on.

Back when I still lived in England, and before the re-unification of Germany, there were no speed limits on the Autobahn and West Germany had the highest accident rates in Europe.

Has that changed at all, with the advent of autobahn speed limits and German re-unification?

I am Italian and live in Germany since 10 years.
There are still no limits on Autobahns, although the advised/recommended speed is 130km/h. But the truth is that there are often limits of 120km/h in many areas (especially close to towns, at autobahn junctions, before tunnels) and in other cases as low as 80/100km/h (in tunnels, for noise reduction at night, in case of wet roads, etc).

As far as I know, if you have an accident and you are driving faster than the recommended speed, you have in any case partial fault, even if the accident was not your fault.

Regarding the accident rates, I cannot really comment since I don't know the latest statistics.
