need advice on components and a sub..

Model III is the JBL system or do you have a Model II?

I have the powered Bazooka sub which I tethered to the car seat harnesses. This takes up minimal room and can easily be removed if needed.

 

I guarantee you as long as the Diamond Hex's are in good shape they will blow away the Polk's. I have noticed that Polk's seem to be very popular in these forums. Is it because they are relatively cheap and available through mail order? I personally am not a big fan of them if you can't tell. Have never been impressed by anything they ever made for car audio or home. There is much better stuff out there. It just comes down to what you want to spend. The higher end companies have affordable good quality stuff in their lower lines. Certainly worth taken a look and always better to find a dealer and listen to them. One person's opinion, mine included may sound good to one person and you may not end up liking it. Although, darn near anything is an upgrade over what they put in our cars.

 

I just completed my audio upgrade about two months ago and I installed the Polk MM6501 components in the front & rear and they sound amazing. I installed the Eclipse CD5030 HU, Alpine PDX-4.100 amp, Polk MM6501 components, and Infinity Basslink sub. My system sounds amazing. I would definitely go with the Polk MM6501's & the Infinity Basslink. I looked at and listened to Focal, Hertz, Diamond and for the money the Polk sounded just as good if not better. The Polk's have soft dome tweeters that sound very crisp not harsh and the mids are great.

I would be inclined to agree. The old Hex speakers were quite amazing! I sold a ton of them (for those that could afford them). I've never really heard a set of Polks that I liked but everyone hears differently and has their own opinion on what sounds good to them. If the Hex's are in good condition I would buy them. I never had a customer not like then but not everyone could afford them new.

Short of the Hex's I would go listen to other speakers before purchasing them. I could never buy a set without listening first. Speakers just sound so different from manufacture to manufacture and model to model.
