I just drove my new Prius into a Tree. I Know, I know, It wasn't the best thing to do, but the car is all wrinkled and now it won't run anymore. Toyota Really Let Me down Here. I was distracted a bit because I was multi-tasking my cell phone to an important customer, while the boss was on call waiting, the Nav system was taking me to the wrong address, and my dog was looking like he needed to get out before nature banged on the door any harder. Could happen to anyone. If only They'd have told me in the Owners Manual that driving into trees causes the motor to stop. I'm Fed Up. I'm going Back To to GM where everything is peachy keen, and great, and I can yak on my cell phone and drive into trees.

Oh........that's ok, I'm glad you weren't seriously injured. Mistakes can happen to anyone. Here's what we'll do, since we want to keep you as a Toyota customer, we will replace your car at no cost. We feel responsible that our engineers cannot design more robust vehicles. We will also offer you a rental car while all this is being sorted out. Finally, we will also reimburse for the cost of obedience school for you dog, if you decide it needs some disclipline.

    Sincerely,
    Akio Toyoda

I think you're right. I just reviewed the 2004 and 2010 owners manuals and there's NOTHING about why it's a good idea to avoid trees. I think you should contact someone and see if you can find other Toyota drivers who have driven into trees and start a class-action suit. There are a few references of paying attention when driving but don't let that slow you down. Power to the people!

But at least I didn't run out of Gas. Toyota mounted that Fuel Gauge right at eye level, so not even some moron like me who'sstupid enough to drive his new Prius into a Tree, could ever miss it and let his new Prius V run out of gas ! Besides If I did that people'd be all cruel, and not understanding, and think I was a complete moron. I couldn't stand the emotional scars from all that.

Where and when can we watch your interview? CBS Evening News?

Glad you're okay. But, sorry you didn't have time to watch that "How to Stop a Runaway Prius" video!

I agree with everything Tony said, but would like to add the fact that there have been several reports of trees becoming very uppity lately. Perhaps said tree suddenly upped itself and jumped directly in front of your car. You should probably find out who has jurisdiction over said tree and have a lawyer speak with them. We simply cannot have uppity trees.

If you can't get anywhere with Toyota, go after the tree people. Just sayin....

I Called Dewey, Cheatam, And Howe My Attoney's and they said they'd file the Class Action later this week. Evidently Trees just Jump Out right in Front of Prius's all the time, and Toyota's been hiding that from us all along. Other car makers have the problem as well. Why Just yesterday there were a whole buncha cars attacked by trees, even a few people, all over New York city and Long Island. And not a word about any of it in the Owners manual. I should make Millions.

FOX NEWS Called, they're gonna run the story tonight, they just told me to make sure that I point out that it happened during the Obama Administration.

Glenn Beck wants to do show next week on Car Problems, Death, and How the Democrats are to Blame, and the alien car companys, like Toyota. He discovered we both belong to the same religion, the NRA !:)

Make sure you don't confuse your average, run-of-the mill tree with an Ent. Ents have been known to move of their own accord, carry on very lengthy conversations, and occasionally attack heavily fortified settlements but usually only when provoked.

It seems to me that, by your own admission, everything that contributed to your crash was the result of your own distractions. The beauty of this whole scenario is that you have the right to drive the car of your choice. Nevertheless, your rights stop when they interfer with the safety of others. I'm glad that you are OK and that you hit a tree instead of a child. As far as the tree and your dog are concerned, I suppose your Prius wasn't so good for the environment anyway.

Yea, now we will be literally hearing from the "TreeHuggers" :)
Let's hope that tree has a crappy lawyer.

I'm goin' for the Class Action Lawsuit anyway, Toyota Never Warned Me Not to Drive into Trees. Should be good for millions ! Aren't Trial Lawyers Great ?

The merits of the case are these, I am the "Victim", They are a Foreign Car Company worth Billions that makes better quality cars than American car companys ever did, and settling with my attorney's will always be cheaper than proving my case is stupid, Unjust, and a waste of the courts time. Like I said, I should make Millions.;)

It was an English Oak, and its visa had expired. They'll be deported if they make a rukus.
