Mine is blurry too. And in the sunlight it looks as if it was combed with a sharp fork. I've only had the car for 3 1/2 months. It came that way and I was too dumb to complain right away. It is a safety hazard when you are driving down the road and move your head to look at the screen.

Who's had the dealer take care of this issue?

My AC screen is green and chrystal clear. Weird. Probably a bad manufacturing lot. I would go to the dealer and compare yours with other another new Prius on the dealers lot.

Okay, so I can look at my AC screen and see what looks like a little blur effect. Readable but blurred edges. But my VIN is above the BEFORE VINs listed in the TSB. Is there still an ongoing issue about this? I'm not certain when or if this might ever become a concern but if something isn't right with my car then now is the time to address it. I saw a couple of blurred examples in earlier posts and mine isn't far from them but... How does this get resolved now?

As far as I can tell my serial number is lower than all those listed. Mine starts with 00 and then is less than 37997 which is listed as the first row in the table. But you could also just call Toyota and see what they say.

OK - I think my A/C screen is blurry (though readable) - is the TB above also valid in Germany? does any German reader of PC, or at least in EU, tell me if they had this done on their Priuses as well?
    Thanks.

I had to go in for the recall computer upgrade. I gave them a printout of the TB and they were surprised a customer had this information. But I was casual, I said they could decide if my car qualified. At this dealer you drive into the garage when you drop off your car, so it does not show the blurriness in full glory (I mentioned they should take it outside for the full effect). And the tech seemed to have never heard of this issue, though he took the time to read the TB. Anyway when I was done they said I qualified for the replacement and they would order the parts and get back to me. So I am pretty happy I did not have to fight for the replacement, and pretty happy with my dealer. I really like this dealership as their waiting room has work benches with power and free Wifi so I can do email and stuff while I wait. They also have good coffee and free doughnuts (though I passed on these). Anyway it took a while (1 hour) but I had plenty of work email to do.

I took the TSB in and showed them when I had my first service last fall, prior to all the recall and runaway Toyota talk. They told me the technician would have to look at it and only if he agreed it was a problem would they replace it. I told them I had not decided if I wanted it replace out of a concern they would either leave marks on the surrounding area or introduce a rattler from disassembly/assembly.

I took the TSB in again when I went in for the brake recall and they didn't question it at all. They took my word that it needed to be replaced and ordered the parts. I went back a week later and they replaced it and washed the car in 30 minutes. No scratches or rattles or any evidence it was replaced and it is MUCH better than the original. It now looks just like the Radio/CD display above it. I am very happy with it and would do it again.

I had nearly the same experience. I stopped by for the brake recall and showed them the TSB provided by the PriusChat Forum. Initially they were a little defensive ("customers are not suppose to have these bulletins"). But after servicing the brakes they came out and said they were ordering the part and agreed the display was fuzzy.

The part came in and I had this replaced on Friday. No mark or damage to the rest of the panel and a much clearer AC display.

I had the A/C display replaced today when I had the 10,000 mile service performed, along with the brake squeak issue (T-SB-0098-10). The display is so much clearer, particularly during the day while wearing sunglasses. I was on the fence whether to bother with it, and am so glad I did. Before it was pretty useless in bright sun conditions, but now looks like you'd expect it to.

The blurriness of the AC display has bothered me from the day I bought the car last July so I just had my A/C display replaced under warranty. I showed the dealer the TSB, which applied to my car's VIN, when I had the brake recall work performed. The service manager said he hadn't heard of this problem or the TSB, but asked to keep my copy of the TSB so they could look it up. After the brake reprogramming, he said they would order a new display which I had replaced about two weeks later. No problems with the replacement and the display is so much clearer.

The dealer just "changed" the display in accordance with the bulletin. I can notice no change in appearance. Still cloudy and hard to read. I wonder if anyone else has had the upgrade and what the results were. (I noticed that the part no. in the bulletin, old and new, is the same.

I had the cloudy/blurry screen and it changed and the difference was night and day. It sounds like you didn't have the problem to start with or you did and they did not really change it out. It's a bit difficult to capture in a photo but some in this thread I believe were successful at doing it. Mine is now as clear as the radio display above it.

I am sending the TSB to my dealer in Munich - he claims he does know about it (and indeed the TSB posted here is only for the US).
I have no huge issue with the screen, but certainly the difference is visible. If it should be changed, I want it to be changed. Let's see if this "defect" is recognised/acknowledged by Toyota Germany at all...

My Gen 3 II which was built in May 2010, well after the cutoff date on the TSB is unreadable when the light is bright outside and the display in the shade. Not worth atrip to the dealer, but I will catch it at my first dealer visit.

Just a thought but if you're feeling really cheap you could always try toothpaste or creamy peanut butter as your abrasive. ;)
