    Hello,

It has been suggested that I ask my question here, as there will be a wider audiance who may have the same type of mobile as me - a Sony Ericcson K750i.

I have just brought a used second gen Prius T Spirit. I know that the previous owner had no problems with bluetoothing as I had to clear out his stored phonebook before I could even think of bluetoothing my phone. There goes a lesson when selling your car on - always clear out your phone book and your personalised points of interest on the sat nav!

The car allows me to register the phone (asking to complete the connection from the phone). This results in a connection. However when I have done this, whilst the car recognises that there is a phone attached it on the main telephone screen it does not show on the screen of Registered phones. All the icons are greyed out. The handset automatically changes to the "In car" profile.

I have proven that I can make calls on handsfree. The problem seems to be when I switch off the car, as the next time I have to go through the registration sequence again. The car seems unable to store my phone as being registered. It always states that the Bluetooth connection has failed. I have to go through the steps of registering the phone again. Is this normal or should the phone stay within the system when the power is switched off and then when it is switched on again the car automatically looks for it and links it up. My impression is that it is the latter from the handbook so there must be something I am not doing right. I don't have the phone plugged into anything? Should I?

What are the idiot proof steps for both the car and handset please? The instructions for the handset seem to assume that you are using a Sony Ericcson earpiece and mike. Something that is not required in a Prius, whilst the Prius instructions in many cases refer to the handset instructions which is fair enough.

The second thing I cannot fathom is how to transfer No's from the phone. When I try it, it just says that it cannot find a bluetooth connected. I don't have many numbers stored on my phone so it is not that much of a concern, but it would be nice to do it this way, rather than manually add each number to the car phone book. Finally, I would like to set up speed dial numbers. I cannot see that there is a way of allocating a speed dial number on the individual phone number, yet obviously speed dial is available. At the moment I can only make voice activated calls, which is OK, but a bit long winded to do, as the voice recognition seems unable to recognise something as simple as "home" or "work".

Again any idiot proof steps please?

Have you checked the BT settings on your phone?

I had this problem with an LG Env2 (VX9100), and I ended up returning my phone because the charging port had broken.

The new phone didn't have the problem. I don't know if there was a firmware upgrade, or if the charging port error was somehow related (iirc the BT and charging problems started around the same time).

Not all phones support contact transfer over BT. I know mine doesn't.

I don't recall the exact speed dial settings but I do remember that it is not intuitive. Surely you already know that, though...

Well I think so. I am not sure what the settings should be and the Sony Ericcson website is not that helpful. As I have said I can get the phone to link up and have made calls from it. Its just the car does not seem to want to save the phone in its system.

The phone charges fine. I'll probably end up seeing if my local dealer has any ideas. Might need to bribe them with an order for some parts, as I did not source the car from them!

As regards speed dial, I would like to allocate certain numbers to the slots available in the car system.

Can you try a different phone to see whether the problem is with the phone or with the Prius BT?
