I got a notice about a class action lawsuit against NCTY, a video game company in china. Apparently they fudged numbers to make it look like they were doing better. When I called the prosecuting lawyer, I told him that I made money on the stock, and he said I couldn't participate. lol

And why all this hate on apriusfan? I have seen he's had some pretty dumb comments before, but that's his right! And a good amount of what he says does make sense. It's not all his fault you know. I don't know why he sticks around this place, with all the hate!

I don't care what happens so long as I can purchase my own Prius soon!

People are strange that way. I've met folks who seem to thrive on strife. But if that is what 'cranks their tractor' . . .

If cash is tight for you, now is a pretty good time to buy. Toyota is scrambling to retain its present customers and the incentives for new buyers are pretty good compared to what Toyota has offered in the past. 0% financing on the Prius would be a great incentive; whether Toyota offers it is anyone's guess.

I believe it comes from his unwavering negative attitude toward anything Prius. This *is* a Prius fan site, so most of us are fanboys to some extent.

Even so, most members of PC are fairly open to ideas and comments, even if they may reflect poorly on the Prius. But we also expect the detractors to be somewhat open to reason and willing to consider scientific evidence and logic. This is especially true since many of us are engineers and scientists.

So far apriusfan appears to be exactly the opposite of his name, and dogmatic in his resistance and dislike for the Prius and perhaps anything relating to Toyota. Even friendly people have a limit to how much of that they will tolerate. Eventually the snarkiness bubbles to the top and the threads get pretty ugly.

International accounting standards are being introduced globally to address the above. Some countries have it already; Canada is coming on board next year, but the US is still bucking the recommendations.

apriusfan is entitled to his opinions. It really is the dissonance of his "handle". I can think of a lot of PC members who are more entitled to it.

That being said, he isn't on my ignore list. I just have to grit my teeth on the handle.

"Opinions" mean little if they're in the form of trolling/astrosurfing.

+1e6 for useful info. How about Japan? I'm honestly curious to see what kind of transparency investors truly have when doing international investment.

I think apriusfan is one of the many members that has recently turned negative to Toyota and it's operating procedures due to a certain feeling of betrayal. I can understand this as I purchased my car with the understanding that it was engineered to a certain standard - the recent evidence suggesting that this standard may have been much, much lower than we may have been led to believe is both disheartening and frustrating. On top of that, several members here consistently turn topical argument into personal attacks embracing a blame-the-driver attitude (unfortunately something that has persisted here for quite a while and has driven quite a few members away). So yes, the guy might be a little frustrated/disappointed with the Toyota and a little fed up with the apologists and those who outright deny any and all possible issues with the car (leading to a "I've-had-enough-of-this-garbage-I-just-want-to-get-rid-of-this-car " attitude, like several other members, leading them to sell their cars).

I don't mean to hijack this thread to make it about apriusfan, but I think it's relevant because the people waging the lawsuit might feel the same way.

I'm jsut waiting for the personal attacks and accusations to start flying as a result of this post...

I'm sorry to hear that you feel betrayed by Toyota. Maybe you should feel betrayed by Consumer Reports and their unscientific reliability ratings too (I lost faith in those the first time I filled out their survey based on my memory of the events of the past year). Toyota makes cars. It has good employees and bad. They make mistakes in design and engineering too as well as in building them. They want Toyota to make money so they can continue to pay their bills. Dealers make mistakes too like using the wrong kind of floor mat for their loaner car. Individual dealer employees make mistakes like choosing to go to lunch instead of dealing with customer complaints. And customers sometimes make some weird complaints. Owners sometimes don't know much about their cars. Unexplainable things do happen, but if you can't figure out what's wrong, it's hard to fix whether you want to or not.

At the same time, people do put their foot on the accelerator pedal instead of the brake pedal. I've done it, even though it was a long time ago. Does that explain every episode of SUA? I do not know. I do know that nothing was ever proven about Audi's cars in the 80s. But the skepticism that I extend to any big business extends to non-profit and for-profit entities and any one else who makes a living suing corporations for product liability. An ethical lawyer says whatever he has to say to get something for his client(s). Sometimes they are telling the truth, sometimes telling it as they see it, and definitely telling it as their client tells it to them. I extend my skepticism to the news media and the government ( I wrote a paper in college on my theory that the Founding Fathers [as rich men] were more concerned with freedom from taxes than freedom of speech etc).

And I can attest to the fact that those who are skeptical of the idea that the Prius is really a Yugo have been accused of purposely giving out false information (ie lying, not being wrong).

I don't really believe that anyone would really sell their car because of Priuschat forum posts. If so, it is a free country.

    Congrats.
My take on all of this: Since I'm a lot more likely to buy another Toyota before they take away my Prius, I'll get better prices. For all practical purposes my Prius is worth just as much today as it was 3 months ago.
