Hey everyone, I'm a bit confused here about a few things. You can register your car with your VIN at toyotaownersonline.com and you get access to all the maintenance records preformed at a dealer. I'm sure some of you are familliar with this convince. What I am asking is.. Do you have a service record of the ABS ECU update? Because, I sure don't! The only service records I have is "pre-delivery inspection" and when I got an oil change. So what does this mean? They didn't actually preform the update and I waited 3 hours in the cold for nada? Can anyone confirm that they did indeed update this on their toyota owners online service records? Thanks!

My ABS ECU updated showed up online. However the dealer was swamped so wasn't able to enter the data until about 2-4 days after my service.

I expected there to be a slight delay. I got this done on the 17th. I think it should have been entered by now. I emailed the dealer with no response:rolleyes:. I guess it's time to call. My breaks don't even feel any different. I'm not claiming they didn't necessarily do the recall (because they could be in some DEEP **** if they didn't do it when it says they did). I just kinda wish it would show up online to provide me some more assurance you know?

I had the update done Friday and just checked the online records and it does not show up either.

Hmm.. Weird? Make sure to reply to this thread and let me know if this has indeed appeared in your service records sometime in the future. I mean, realistically speaking.. Couldn't they just not do the update and we as the "stupid consumer" wouldn't know if they did nor not? I'm not saying we are stupid to ANY degree, however the mechanics may think.. well if they wont be able to tell why bother?

Mine shows up on my records. It took a few days for it to show up. I remember checking a couple of times and then it showed. I think it was about a week, though. This was during a very busy time for Toyota with all of the recalls going on.

You would think it would be fast considering everything is computer controlled. But I will give it a week and see.

The changes made by the brake recall are only noticeable if you are stopping quickly on very rough / bumpy terrain. From what I hear on the forums, most people haven't even experienced the problem that they corrected. I wouldn't be too worried by your not noticing any difference--I believe that's how it's suppose to be :).

I do agree with you, I do believe that did implement the update. I just want it to be "official" and in the computer systems.

Here's a little history, (at least regards my dealer). I was called on Nov. 25 that my car had arrived at the dealership. I picked it up on "BlackFriday", Nov. 27th. A few days after I had picked the car up I found the web site and registered my VIN #, at that date there were NO RECORDS on my car. You'd have thought there would have been, regards pre-delivery service, etc. Some time after the middle of Dec. I looked again and there was all the Pre-delivery info DATED 12-16! I printed out the page and when I was back in the dealership again I showed it to a "tech-writer" and asked him what the deal was? That I had taken posession of the car weeks before the date on the service, and hadn't had the vehicle in since. The answer was the services are logged in as they "GET THE OPORTUNITY TO DO THEM", and they will have the date of entry on them, not the date of the actual service. He didn't act surprised that the date was two weeks after the actual delivery,... for the actual pre-delivery service!! This is just my dealership, but others may do them diligently right away, + use the actual date of service, rather than the date of entry.
This MAY be the reason you don't see this recorded YET. ???
I know when they did my update on the computer for the brakes it was entered within a few days, but don't remember if they dated it for the day they actually did it.
I know the site works well for entering any service you do yourself, I have entered an oil change and tire rotation that I did myself. Of course inquire, but maybe patience is what I'm advocating. :)

Regards the Brake computer update, (recall). If I hadn't read about the experiences of others from here on the forum, I would never have known there was a problem. After reading things here, I "MAYBE" (and it is very questionable), experienced the VERY, VERY brief absence of brake force. Why maybe?? Because I didn't go looking for it! I have no interest in running my new car over rough surfaces to try to get it to fail. It has been updated for several weeks now, and I found the brakes since the update to preform "more like conventional brakes". THEN A FEW DAYS AGO I INADVERTANTLY FOUND MYSELF BRAKING (CLOSE TO A STOP), OVER A ROUGH SURFACE..... I THINK I EXPERIENCED "THE LITTLE ANAMALIE"! ................... I'M NOT CONCERNED! It was there and gone before I even realized it! I will tell about it, but it does not deminishes my love of, or enjoyment of this car at all.

I thought it would be posted at ToyotaOwnersOnline when the service writer was completing my paperwork; however, it took a little over 24 hours before it appeared there.

Yep, mine is there and apparently has been there from a couple of days after it was done.

Well guys, you were right. All I had to do was wait. My guess is they were swamped and didn't have time to put it in. All is well and is showing up in the service records. Yay!

This may be dumb, but I just upgraded mt 2005 to a 2010 due to great deal. I checked and all i see in service is the "new car prep". The car
had a December 2009 build so i believe it needs the brake fix. Salesman said it is done automatically when prepped? Any ideas how to check?

I wouldn't worry about it. It is a bogus recall anyway. If you find that during heavy braking (or breaking) on rough or bouncy terrain the car seems to accelerate wildly, push the brake harder. No harm, no foul. The next time you go into the dealership, ask them to show you that it was either done or doesn't need to be done.

Lots of people on these boards, not to mention the great unwashed who have only heard about the recall through the mail haven't even bothered to get the update done.
