I'm looking to buy some aftermarket 16" wheels for my 2010 IV in a 16 x 7, +40mm offset. Will this wheel fit without any troubles? I understand I should be closer to a 50mm offset. Any help in answering this question would be greatly appreciated.

Dang over 100 views and no one can chime in on this? Does anybody have 16's with a high offset?

I think the majority of the peeps buying aftermarket wheels are goin with at least 17 inch rims, not 16's:confused:

Well even if members have 17" wheels, I would like to know what offsets people are running.

I do not have the answer to your question, but when I changed from the stock 16" wheels on my Camaro to 15" wheels (15 x 10) I removed a wheel and used a tape measure so I could be positive of the correct offset. Once I decided upon my aftermarket wheels I then called the manufacturer to see if they could verify my nunbers and they did so while I was on the phone with them.

In my case the front wheels and back wheels required different offsets but I expect yours will all be the same. ;)

I'm not sure that this is the case. I would like to have a flush look with the fenders. I believe the rear wheels are set in deeper than the front. Can anybody confirm this? How low of an offset can I run? I am now looking at 17" wheels with a 7.5 width and 40 offset. I just don't want to run into any rubbing issues or have the wheels sticking out too far.

from what my setup compare to 16"x7 you will have 18mm more inside clearance and from fender you will have 8mm more clearance than mine, my car is perfect flat with fender now so hope this will give you some idea

I have 17x7 with a 42 offset. I'm running 205x50R17 tires and they look and perform well. 205x55R16 on that rim should work but won't be flush.

Thanks for the info. I am thinking of going with a 17 x 7.5 wheel now with a 40 mm offset. You got any pics of the wheels on your car? I am thinking or running a thicker tire as well like you (45, or 50) so that the gap between the tires and the fenders is not that big.

Well, I got my wheels picked out so now I need to look at tires. I am thinking about going with some General Exclaim UHP. These tires only weigh 18 lbs! A few pounds lighter than other brands for the size I am looking at. I would have loved to go with a LRR tire but I couldn't find in any offered in a 215/45/17. Anybody know of any?

I saw some Ecopia's in a 225/44/17 but they are $200 a piece and weigh 21 lbs each. I think I'm going to stick with the Eclaim UHPs which I had on my last car. No complaints so I am sticking with them. My wheels finally came in today. Install scheduled for Friday. I'll post some pics once they are on.

They are nothing to write home about. I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg for wheels and tires this time around (especially with the MPG hit I will most likely be taking). They are a simple five star wheels I found on Ebay. I am going for a silver and black theme on my car. The wheels are black with a polished face. Here's a link to the wheels: Plussizerim.com, Effect Wheels, Black Wheels, Car Rims, Mercedes Wheels, Vredestein Tires, Tires - Sengen 17x7.5 5x100 / 5x114.3 BPF

i have a question about wheels as well
    16 or 17
which will affect the turn ratio more?
will I still get the calculated mpg?

Those rims should look nice. How much do they weight. If your still open to tire suggestions, I really like my continental extreme contact dws. Its 2lbs more per tire though and a little more money. But they seem to be quiet and handle well in the rain when I need them.

I think it depends on the width and offset of the wheel you choose. I think the weight and aerodynamics of the wheel are the biggest factor in determining whether you will take a hit on the MPGs. For the most part I think you will take a small hit on the MPGs one way or another.
