Those cameras might have shown if floor mats were involved.

If toyota actually logged the braking data in the 2008 avalon, instead of just leaving a place in the log, we might know if that driver hit the brakes after a court order was served to toyota to read it. We do know that data is logged in the prius, and in the ny case it only took a senator to get toyota to read the data to show it was driver error.

Toyota needs to at least get their reader data out of beta to be belivable in the area. They are doing far bellow the minimum you would expect from the largest auto maker. Tiny Hyundai has already put brake override in all of their electronic throttle cars, and mandate compliant logging in edr's of new models. It would be nice if toyota spent as much effort on logging as they do on PR, Lawyers, and regulators to say why they don't do it. I'm sure the hearings were a CTJM for the company and they may actually try instead of trying to obfuscate.

I think you are the smoke screen promoter.

You say the Exponent engineers are incompetent. What are your qualifications? Post your curriculum vitae.

I doubt your ability to analyze any of these circuits based on your not understanding how a 500 hp car at full throttle would take longer to stop than if it were at idle and that you don't know the purpose of ABS.

You are probably Malorn logged in under a different name.

All of your posts are critical of the Prius or Toyota. I doubt if you even own one.

The only Toyota I own is a gen 1 Prius which our lead company engineer is the primary driver.

Otherwise I am a Lexus fan first, Ford second, and Porsche 3rd. Or do I have those last two reversed..??

The Ford folks over at GreenHybrid will attest to my being a Toyota "fan" due to my being so critical of Ford.

Well, I tried Googling you as per your suggestion above (which was inserted in bold into vegasjetskier's quote so it does not appear in this quote).

Didn't look too hard but I found this on ecomodder, fwiw. Just one post in from the whole thread, there are several more posts above it.

You have made up your mind and your belief system is shut tight and nothing will be able to change that right? Everything you see will be tinted by your belief system. You have become a victim.

Would a link from US government site rather than from Toyota make a difference either Exponent is building a PR for Toyota? I don't think so. You are going to come up with a reason that suit your belief system.

I only got as far as figure 4 of your linked document. I didn't recognize the chart in the figure in relation to my own memory of the same representative chart in the various factory documents.

So I went and checked for each of the vehicles they reference as being represented by the chart.

They do not compare in any way that would allow anyone to make comparitive judgments.

I cannot imagine why someone would have taken such liberties with the chart, makes all the following information virtually worthless.

It is a fox news clip, which is already a contradiction. Not worth intelligent people's time to even view.

The update allowed the firdge to display more image formats that it previously could on its 7" touch panel display.

You said: "The wiring insulation breakdown or resistance, nor the connection contact resistance or breakdown isn't the subject matter any knowledgeable engineer would first address. Engineer knowledgeable of integrated circuit design and fabrication anyway." Italics added by me.

Sounds like you're calling them incompetent to me.

...........Thanks I couldn't figure out the possibility.

If you don't like the Fox report ..How about this report 4 months ago from ABC, before the supposed Sikes hoax ...Look at the graph, when Toyota went electronic.

"50% braking" is *NOT* a number I ever said, don't attribute things
to me wrongly. I said "meaningful braking" when recounting my own
Prius "override" testing, as a qualitative point at which drive force
was removed. It wasn't a whole lot of meaningful, either, but still
enough to drag all the hydraulic brakes and make plentiful heat.
    .
The error-trigger voltage between the pedal leads *is* 0.4V in the
Prius as of '04. Maybe not some other, perhaps earlier, Toyotas.
    .
Gilbert is a buffoon who couldn't figure out how to fake out the
ECT controls in the other cars [thus, it took Exponent to do it
correctly later], and at this point I think all of this pedal-leads
nonsense is barking up the entirely wrong tree.
    .
wwest, what am I supposed to google for to find your theoretical CV?
"wwest40" only returns a few priuschat links, much of it in all of
the foregoing. It strikes me that your practical street knowledge of
the second and third gen cars doesn't match what you're trying to
    pass off that you know.

Wow, I can't believe how much effort you guys put into trying to argue with obvious trolls! Just ignore them!

Sikes has been proven to be a desperate man trying to cash in on the hysteria.
The lady in NY confused the accelerator with the brake.

NO, please don't!! Troll-baiting, the new sport! Watching them build incredible shimmering edifices of improbability based on paranoid conjecture far surpasses any TV show in entertainment value.

So, a couple of professors who moonlight by testifying in lawsuits against electronics folks have convinced you. Sounds like the same notion that leads people to say the earth isn't warming up at all, or if it is, it ain't our fault- a couple of paid hack scientists and problem solved.

Old news. Who gave ABC, Fox, CNN, CBS, etc their information? It's journalism by press release from the product liability lawyers. Supported by shills with degrees. OMG, a real professor? There are a few thousand of them around I think. And like most people, money can help them make up their minds.

Yes, I suppose some might see it as incompetence, but I see it as a "smoke screen" or magic trick, "look over here, not where the action is".

I've had the same problem. For example, I made a post a long time ago talking about the accelerator pedal mapping for the various power modes in the Gen III. We were told that the differences were in the first half of the pedal travel, and mostly the same in the bottom half. Once I posted the "half" comment it became gospel. It's only roughly the first half, but the figure is cast in stone now.
