I want to buy Prius III with the Solar Roof, but:
    - dealer told me that option is only for a lease (is it true?)
    - dealer doesn't have that option, I need to order and wait (aprox. for how long? even they don't know for how long - said that let me know a week after I will make an order )

Also when I asked about Prius III w/o any extras they don't want to give any good deal  I think is better to sell more with less invoice price then 2-3 with the price close to MSRP. Especially when Toyota loose in sale each day.

Any advice when I will hit another dealer? Thanks

It is definitely NOT true that the III with sun roof is only available for lease. I bought one. However they may not be as easy to find. I think I read that they are not sold in some parts of the country. You may have to call around a bit to see if you can find one. I am in Southern Cal. and I very specifically wanted a red III w/ sun roof. The nearest one was about 400 miles away, but I was able to get it with help from my credit union.

As the solar option works best the closer to the equator you are, (Sun straight down on it) Toyota tries to sell them in southern states

I view a solar roof as the best traction pack insurance you can get.

Don't have to worry about the batteries if the car is unused for weeks or months.

Remember I'm a Honda guy, and I have to concede they are a distant second to Toyota's battery pack management.

The solar panel does not recharge the traction battery.

Chuck as I understand it, the solar roof ONLY powers a fan to provide airflow to the interior when parked. It is not hooked to the rest of the Prius electrics or batteries.

Yes, I know that, but is there any East Coast distribution center where a dealer can make a call and to order with that option? Maybe a salesman was too lazy to check it and told me that they are only to lease not to purchase? Just to get rid off me and my annoying questions

I stand corrected on the factory solar roof.

Someone in Alberta or elsewhere in Western Canada had a DIY one that does.

Any advice about bottom price? How far low I can get from $28,380 MSRP?

Go to www.aaa.com to build your car & get dealer quotes. Tonight their price for a III-NAV is $25901. Invoice is $26501 & MSRP is $28380. Dealers don't order cars. The Region places their order with Toyota & allocates the cars to their dealers. If you can't get what you want then buy from a dealer in another region.

Go to www.toyota.com & if you can build the car you want then it is available in your Region.

It sounds like a good opportunity to get screwed. If I was you I would avoid that dealer find one elsewhere. That doesn't sound like a safe bet.

Finally dealer got Molel III + Solar Roof but they offer me only $1,447 for discount which doesn't sounds as a good deal.
